Winners and losers from Week 11 in college football

Week 11 of the college football season came with plenty of heroes and a few goats as well. College Football 24/7 takes a look some draft prospects who made some noise, for better or worse.

Winners

*Jalen Hurts, QB, Alabama *

Coming off arguably his worst passing game of the season last week against LSU, the freshman delivered his best Saturday in a 51-3 win over Mississippi State. He completed 28 of 37 passes for 347 yards and four touchdowns -- three to WR ArDarius Stewart -- and rushed for 100 yards on 11 carries. It marked the first time an Alabama QB has passed for 300-plus and run for 100-plus in a single game. It wasn't perfect -- Hurts committed two turnovers -- but with his ninth consecutive start at the helm for a 10-0 team, he's now a freshman in name only.

*Mike Williams, WR, Clemson *

It came in a losing effort, 43-42, but the Tigers' best receiver made it look easy against Pitt. He set career highs in receptions (15) and receiving yards (202), accounting for nearly a third of Clemson's total offense (630). In his first game since it was revealed he intends to apply for early draft entry, nobody could say Williams is packing it in.

*Zay Jones, WR, East Carolina *

The Pirates senior is piling up receiving numbers at a dizzying pace, and SMU's defense was not up to the task of slowing him down Saturday. Jones caught 12 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown in a 55-31 loss. For the season, he's now at an incredible 139 catches for 1,473 yards with two games remaining. The FBS single-season record for catches is not out of Jones' reach; he needs 17 more for 156, which would break Freddie Barnes' record of 155, set in 2009 at Bowling Green.

*James Conner, RB, Pitt *

The Panthers' bruising rusher had 189 total yards (132 rushing) in an upset win over Clemson on Saturday, including a 20-yard touchdown run with 5:17 left that pulled Pitt within a 42-40 deficit. He also caught a 46-yard touchdown pass that put Pitt ahead 14-7 in the first half.

*Harold Landry, DE, Boston College *

Friday wasn't BC's night in a 45-7 loss to Florida State, but none of the blame can lay at Landry's feet. The Eagles' top pass rusher made four tackles for loss, two of which were sacks, among six total stops. Landry stripped FSU QB Deondre Francois on one of those sacks, although the Seminoles retained possession. The junior joined a small club with the effort as one of only four FBS players, entering play Saturday, with double-digit sacks.

*Shea Patterson, QB, Ole Miss *

With QB Chad Kelly out for the season and Ole Miss playing .500 football, the future is now for the Rebels. Patterson, a highly touted freshman who would have redshirted were it not for Kelly's injury, got an early start to his career Saturday in a 29-28 comeback win over Texas A&M. At Kyle Field -- not an easy road venue for opposing quarterbacks -- Patterson completed 25 of 42 passes for 338 yards and two scores in his career debut. Both his TD passes came in the fourth quarter as Ole Miss overcame a 21-6 fourth-quarter deficit.

Losers

Jake Browning, QB, Washington

Browning picked a bad week -- one in which UW faced a hot USC team -- to play his worst game of the year. He completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes for the first time all season (17 of 36), and was intercepted twice for the first time all season, as well. Whatever slim hope Browning had of beating out Lamar Jackson for the Heisman Trophy likely vanished here, and the Huskies' leverage for a playoff spot took a hit, too.

*Shock Linwood, RB, Baylor *

Linwood's suspension for this week's game due to an attitude issue was bad enough, given that the Bears were facing one of their toughest Big 12 games of the season in Oklahoma. But Linwood's absence against the Sooners was magnified even more when RB Terence Williams was injured in the first quarter and did not return. Oklahoma won 45-24.

*Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan *

WMU's game plan against Kent State was clearly to pound the Golden Flashes defensive front with the running game -- QB Zach Terrell attempted only 13 passes -- and it worked splendidly in a 37-21 win Tuesday night. That same plan rendered Davis' normally explosive production without much of a chance, however. Davis caught one pass for 18 yards; he entered averaging seven for 112.

*Auburn offense *

OK, so star RB Kam Pettway was out with an injury. That's no excuse to throw for 37 yards in a crucial game against a rival like Georgia. Sean White completed just 6 of 20 passes, and committed a pick six that turned out to be Georgia's only touchdown in a 13-7 loss. The Tigers didn't even convert for a first down in the second half. Needless to say, the rushing attack wasn't especially effective without Pettway, either.
