Brees finished the 2018 season with 74.4 percentage of Passes Completed, the highest percentage of his career. In 2019, he threw for 74.3% and in 2017 he threw for 72.0%. All three years are the highest NFL Pass Completion % Single-Season marks.
His career average is 67.7% which places him second all-time behind Deshaun Watson 67.8% (2017-2020).

Brady and Brees would go head to head nine times including once college (between Michigan and Purdue). Brees edged Brady 5-4 but Brady was victorious in their only playoff matchup on Jan. 17, 2021.

Brees led the Saints to a 13-3 regular season record and two playoff victories over the Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings to advance to Super Bowl XLIV. Brees was named the Bert Bell Award (Player of the Year) winner for his accomplishments.

Brees finished the season with a league leading 4,418 passing passing with 26 touchdowns. Brees was voted to the First Team AP All-Pro Team and finished second in MVP Voting.

Overall Brees was 30-28 as a starter in San Diego during the regular season. He completed 1,125 passes for 12,348 yards and 80 touchdowns.

The Chargers first 12-4 on the season good for first place in the AFC West Division and a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. Brees was selected to his first of 13 Pro Bowls appearances.
Of Note, The Chargers the acquired the rights to quarterback Philip Rives during the 2004 Draft. Rivers backed up Brees during the 2004 and 2005 season and played in two games each season, but never starting until 2006.

Schottenheimer was making his coaching debut for San Diego as 23 year old Brees was making his first NFL career start. The Chargers won 34-6 behind Brees 15 for 19, 160 yards and two touchdown performance. Brees started the all 16 games in 2002.
Brees posted on his Instagram: "The lessons and wisdom of Marty Schottenheimer will forever ring in my ears. He loved his players and he loved his family. I am so grateful and honored to have played for him. Rest In Peace Coach Marty!" after Schottenheimer's death on Feb. 9, 2021.
Brees was coached by Schottenheimer from 2002 to 2006.

This game was the only time Brees threw a pass in the season.

In his four years at Purdue Brees threw for 11,792 yards and 90 touchdowns. He led the 2000 Boilermakers to the 2001 Rose Bowl against the University of Washington falling short to the Huskies 34-24. Purdue has not been back to Pasadena to play in the Rose Bowl.
Brees finished fourth in 1999 and third in 2000 in Heisman voting.
