Allen gained 12,242 yards rushing, 5,411 yards receiving and scored 145 touchdowns in a 16-year career split with the Raiders and Chiefs. Allen was drafted 10th overall in the 1982 NFL Draft, won rookie of the year honors and was selected the MVP of Super Bowl XVIII.

Simpson was the first running back in NFL history to top 2,000 rushing yards in a single season when he recorded 2,003 yards in 1973. Simpson rushed for 219 yards in the next-to-last game against the Patriots and 200 yards in the finale against the Jets to capture the feat in an astonishing 14-game season.

The hard-hitting Lott was a versatile defensive back who earned 10 Pro Bowl invitations at three different positions -- cornerback, free safety and strong safety. Lott was the leader of the young 49ers secondary that helped the team win their first Super Bowl in 1981.

Swann was a member of the famed Steelers teams in the 1970s that won four Super Bowl titles. His highlight-reel catches are a part of Super Bowl lore and he was selected the most valuable player of Super Bowl X when he had four receptions for 161 yards.

Gifford was a Pro Bowl performer for the Giants at three different positions -- defensive back, halfback and flanker. Gifford was the star of the famed Giants teams of the 1950s, and the highlight came when he was selected as the league's MVP in 1956 as New York took the title.

Munoz is one of the most dominant offensive linemen in NFL history. He was selected to 11 consecutive Pro Bowls and was voted the NFL offensive lineman of the year in 1981, 1987 and 1988.

Polamalu is one of the most-feared defenders currently in the NFL. Polamalu has been a member of two Steelers championship teams and has been selected to seven Pro Bowls since being a first-round selection out of USC in 2003.

Some regard Montana as the greatest quarterback in NFL history, and it's hard to argue. Montana led the 49ers to four Super Bowl titles during his career, and finished off with two solid seasons with the Chiefs. Montana was a three-time Super Bowl MVP and the back-to-back NFL MVP in 1989-1990.

The famed Packers under coach Vince Lombardi were loaded with talent at nearly every position, but those who covered the team believe it was Hornung who was the true key to the team's success. The "Golden Boy" was the NFL player of the Year in 1960 and 1961.

NFL enthusiasts remember Casper for two huge plays -- the "Ghost to the Post" and the "Holy Roller." Casper's 42-yard reception set up the game-tying field goal in a 1977 AFC playoff game at Baltimore. His 10-yard TD reception sealed the game in double overtime. And Casper scored the touchdown in the infamous "Holy Roller" that QB Ken Stabler purposely coughed up to beat the Chargers in 1978.

Page is one of the true ironmen of the NFL, as he played in 238 consecutive games including four Super Bowls. He was selected the NFL most valuable player as a defensive tackle in 1971, and he was a two-time NFL defensive player of the year, too.

Connor excelled as a two-way player for the Bears in 1948-1955 as an all-NFL selection on both sides of the ball, but he was most well-known for work at linebacker.

Some considered Buoniconti too small to play in the NFL -- even his own coaches at Notre Dame. But his relentless drive drove him to be one of the leaders of Miami's "No Name Defense," which clearly fit his style. Buoniconti was a member of the famed 1972 Dolphins which went undefeated and won Super Bowl VII.

Tuck is one of the most disruptive players in the NFL today. Tuck started the scoring in Super Bowl XLVI when he harangued Tom Brady into an intentional grounding call in the end zone, which resulted in a safety. Tuck was one of the unsung heroes of the game and is now a two-time Super Bowl winner.
