Fantasy Football Stock Watch: Cam Newton improving
Training camps across the country are starting to open and by this time next week, they'll all be in full swing. Hooray! That means actual football-related news -- as opposed to the trickle of news-flavored meat particles we've been subsisting on for the past few months. Anyway, here's this week's Stock Watch.

We've reached the point in the summer where football players doing football things when they previously couldn't do football things is a big deal. Such is the case with Cam Newton. After offseason shoulder surgery, he's now throwing to teammates during some summer workouts in Baltimore. There are certainly other concerns when it comes to his potential fantasy production, but it doesn't look like his availability will be one of them. Your move, Andrew Luck.

The Grit King has made his way to Charm City where he finds himself in a loaded backfield that will only get more crowded once Kenneth Dixon returns from a four-game suspension. But if Joe Flacco's opinion counts for anything (and it should), Woodhead will have a definite role in this offense after Flacco called the running back the best pass-catching RB the team has had since Ray Rice. Look for Woodhead to have solid PPR value this year.

I don't know what it is about the Chargers, especially their wide receivers, but whatever they're doing ... they should stop. News surfaced earlier in the week that Williams was dealing with a herniated disk in his back. The upside is that season-ending surgery won't be necessary but it's a near certainty that he'll start training camp on the PUP list. Tyrell Williams ... come on down!

In a move that should have surprised no one, yet heated up #FantasyTwitter like a midsummer night's fever dream, Jamaal Williams will enter training camp as the No. 2 runing back on the Packers roster behind Ty Montgomery. I mean ... who else was really going to take the job? Regardless, you can now confidently draft Williams as a handcuff. If you're into that sort of thing.

The early reviews on Perriman's offseason have been boffo! One report says the third-year receiver is having the best summer of any of the Ravens receivers. While that all sounds wonderful, he still has a long way to go to draw the sort of attention that will make him a wanted option for fantasy owners. There's also the issue of being behind Jeremy Maclin and Mike Wallace in the pecking order. Which is to say nothing of how many targets Danny Woodhead might claim. I'm not getting too excited about this one just yet.

Few fantasy managers are getting excited about too many Jets players this season. But Robby Anderson offered that "hey, somebody there has to catch the ball, right?" appeal. And it's true. Someone there does have to get the catches. But it doesn't look like Anderson is necessarily that someone. According to reports, Anderson isn't a sure thing to hold on to the team's No. 2 receiver job with rookie ArDarius Stewart breathing down his neck. It's hard enough to trust the WR1 in that offense. Drafting the No. 3 receiver is a non-starter.
