Fantasy Franchise Tags: Week 2
My nickname around the NFL Media office is "Franchise" and since I'm playing in eight fantasy football leagues this season, I figured I would continue my series of fantasy "Franchise Tag" players every week. Basically, it's a list of players, some well-known, some not so much, who I think will have a big week. Keep in mind that the fantasy "Franchise Tag" is a prestigious nomination, as not just any average Joe fantasy player gets the honor. I've narrowed my Week 2 list down to nine options in the format of a standard league lineup with one flex for your content consuming pleasure. And if you're all up on the Twitter, be sure to send me some feedback @mfranciscovich with #FantasyFranchiseTag and get this thing trending! Now let's get to it.

Yeah, I know ... not a very bold call at all, but hear me out. I'm the only one of our rankers to have Luck at No. 1 among quarterbacks this week. Although he may be without his top receiver in T.Y. Hilton due to a knee injury, the Colts have more than enough offensive talent to make up for his potential absence. In the national spotlight against the Jets on Monday Night Football, Luck will be looking to prove himself after the Bills stymied the Indy offense last week. That's the thing with Luck -- even in a game where the Colts were shut out in the first half, he still managed to place just outside the top 10 fantasy QBs with 17.72 fantasy points in standard leagues.

Last week against the Cardinals, Ingram posted career highs in receptions (eight) and receiving yards (98). He added 24 rushing yards, but didn't get into the end zone. That should change this week against a Tampa Bay defense that let Titans running back Bishop Sankey score twice against them in the season opener. Plus, the last time New Orleans played the Buccaneers, both Ingram and backup Khiry Robinson posted touchdowns. Fire up Ingram, and the rest of your Saints skill players with confidence this week in fantasy.

Ivory collected 100 yards from scrimmage and scored twice last week against the Browns and now faces a Colts defense that surrendered 143 total yards and two touchdowns to the Bills backfield committee just a week ago. Both of Ivory's scores last week -- one rushing and one receiving -- came from inside the red zone as his 21 touches drove home the point that he's going to be the Jets workhorse this season. Bilal Powell managed 14 touches himself but six of them came late in the fourth quarter when the game was well out of reach. Ivory should be a top 10 fantasy RB again in Week 2.

Against the Saints in Week 1, second-year wideout John Brown was on the field for 97 percent of the Cardinals offensive snaps. That bodes well for his opportunity to produce in Week 2 against a Chicago defense that surrendered three touchdowns and 148 yards to the Packers' receiving corps a week ago. As Carson Palmer's go-to guy, his Week 1 reception total (four) should see an uptick against the Bears, so make sure he's slotted into your lineup.

Fantasy owners who drafted Adams early due to Jordy Nelson's season-ending injury may have come away a bit disappointed with his Week 1 production. Although he only hauled in four passes for 59 yards, he drew more targets (eight) than Randall Cobb and James Jones. Unfortunately, Adams was the only Packers receiver that didn't score against the Bears. He faces a tough matchup against Seattle this week, but you can bank on a bounce-back as Green Bay looks to get revenge on Seattle in their first meeting since the 2014 NFC Championship Game.

Sure, the Eagles only gave up 2.30 fantasy points to Atlanta tight ends in Week 1, but the stat is skewed by the fact that Julio Jones is a beast. Go ahead, name the Falcons tight end ... Bet you had to look it up. With Dez Bryant sidelined, Witten will be much more involved in the Dallas passing attack against Philly, especially in the red zone. Witten posted 60 yards and two scores against the Giants a week ago, and Tony Romo has been leaning on him since, like, President Bill Clinton was in office. Fire up Witten this week with confidence.

If you were waiting for him to do something in a regular season game before you felt comfortable starting him just take a look back at Week 1. Ameer Abdullah scored on his first NFL carry against the Chargers on an electric 24-yard dash. The Lions take on the Vikings in Week 2, a defense that Carlos Hyde ran wild against last Monday night. Add to it the fact that Abdullah is one of the most dynamic runners in the league and the rookie should get his in Minnesota. He's well worth a start in your flex spot.

The Bears' kicker was three-for-three in Week 1, hitting field goals of 28, 44 and 50 yards and added two extra points. He was solid all preseason and his consistency carried over into regular season play. Gould matches up against the Cardinals this week, a team that New Orleans had a tough time getting into the end zone against last week, but scored four field goals against. Gould is about as solid of an option as you can get for your Week 2 matchup.

Carolina allowed just nine points last week to Jacksonville and collected a fumble recovery and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a score. Against an Arian Foster-less Houston offense that will be starting Ryan Mallett at quarterback this week, the Panthers defense is an ideal start in fantasy leagues ... as long as they can keep DeAndre Hopkins in check.
