Fantasy Stock Watch
The calendar might say June, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of fantasy football news to talk about. Mini-camps have opened around the country and we're just a few short weeks away from the start of training camp. That's the perfect time to start taking stock of some of the players who could make or break your fantasy season.

Taylor was a pleasant fantasy surprise in 2015 after battling to win the Bills' starting quarterback job in training camp. Now as the team's undisputed starter for 2016, Taylor says he is "more in command" of the team's attack. That's to be expected after having a whole year to work on things. But it's also encouraging when you consider some of the weapons in the Buffalo arsenal. If Taylor can stay healthy, he'll challenge to to crack the top 10 among fantasy quarterbacks this season.

The hits just keep on coming for Murray. It was bad enough that the Titans drafted Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry to potentially compete for carries this season. Now offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie says that the team could go with the "hot hand" at running back. That's never a good thing -- for the player or fantasy managers. I'd say the Titans hate your fantasy team, but that implies a coherent offensive vision. Instead we're dealing with "exotic smashmouth". Whatever that means.

Last season, Williams was a fantasy star in place of Le'Veon Bell both early and later in the season. That's led many to believe that the veteran could see a bigger role in the offense this year as the Steelers attempt to keep their workhorse back fresh for a playoff run. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley didn't expressly sign off on the idea, but he didn't dismiss it either. Williams was already a solid handcuff, but he could have greater standalone value late in drafts as well.

Add Barnidge to the list of players having offseason surgery just ahead of training camp. For the veteran tight end, it's sports hernia surgery. Barnidge is expected to be back in time for the start of training camp barring any setbacks, but it's another reason to be concerned about a player who suddenly burst on to the scene in 2015 and will be under immense pressure to prove he can repeat as a top-10 fantasy tight end.

Midway through last season, Gabbert took over a dysfunctional 49ers offense and played relatively well. Maybe not well enough to be considered a top-end fantasy starter, but he certainly stopped being the fantasy punchline he was while with the Jacksonville Jaguars. That -- combined with his work this offseason -- has been enough to give him the advantage in the competition with Colin Kaepernick to be the Niners starting quarterback. Gabbert will still be nothing more than a late-round flier in most fantasy leagues, but the prospect of having the starting quarterback in Chip Kelly's offense on your roster is an intriguing one.

The hype train for Prosise continues to gain both steam and passengers as the summer progresses. The latest reports suggest that the rookie could have a big role as the Seahawks' third-down back. That's in addition to talk that Prosise could occasionally line up as a slot receiver in the Seattle passing game. Thomas Rawls' status for the start of the season remains in doubt, which could create an opening for another back on the 'Hawks roster. Why couldn't Prosise be that guy?

Two Niners on the list? And both in the positive direction? Yeah, I'm just as shocked as you are. But there's really no other way to feel about Hyde after Chip Kelly says he believes the young running back can be a three-down option. Kelly's offense tends to feature the run and is certain to run a high volume of plays. That's great news for a player whose skills seem tailor-made for that type of attack. Maybe there will be some fantasy relevance in Santa Clara this season, after all.

Things seemed to be progressing so well for Matthew Stafford and company at the end of last season. After Jim Bob Cooter took over the offensive playcalling, the Lions were a much more productive outfit. But things coule be changing this season. Golden Tate says the offense has "started from scratch" heading into training camp. This could potentially be the start of some big things in Detroit, but in the short term it means there are definitely going to be some growing pains as everyone gets the hang of the new scheme. Don't be afraid to draft any Lions, but realize that your early season production could be inconsistent.

Funchess was thrown into the fire in his rookie year after the season-ending injury to Kelvin Benjamin. The results were mixed. But there's hope that the Michigan man can take a step forward in 2016. That hope will only be ratcheted up after head coach Ron Rivera said that Funchess is "light years" ahead of where he was as a rookie. If the Panthers offense is anywhere near as productive as it was last season, Funchess could be a late-round steal.

In the "Story That Will Never Die," Tom Brady continues to appeal his four-game suspension for an event that happened TWO SEASONS AGO. The league has said that it has no plans to settle and is willing to go to court ... OH MY GOD! MAKE IT STOP ALREADY!!!
