Fantasy Stock Watch: Week 12
And on the 12th week, there as much rejoicing. For meals prepared with large fowl and mashed root vegetables were served. The people laughed and filled their bellies to the point of overindulgence. And there was football. Lots and lots of football -- of both the real and fantasy varieties. Lo, some of it was even good. As for the rest ... well, let the Stock Watch be your digestive salvation.

The Hogan Watch continues. Alas, things aren't looking good for the Patriots wideout. After missing yet more practice with a shoulder injury, Hogan seems unlikely to play this week against the Dolphins. Perhaps this is all a big game to keep both Hogan and Rex Burkhead off the field at the same time. After all, a team can't have too many Swiss Army knives. But if you've been waiting for Hogan to get back, you can stop. Sure, he might have value ... but it's been nearly a month. There are other options available.

Greg Olsen is back! Greg Olsen is back! Let the congregation say "Amen!" In a world where Jared Cook is a top 10 tight end and we're convincing ourselves that it's okay to start Eric Ebron, we welcome back a bona fide playmaker at the position. Of course, he hasn't seen any action since Week 2 so it would be wise to exercise caution before thrusting him into your lineup. But he's definitely worth a roster spot and could be a big piece to your playoff push.

As the Vikings put the NFC North further in their rearview mirror, they can likely see the Packers along the side of the road, trying to patch a car that is falling apart at the seams. The latest wheel to fall off is Montgomery, whose tender ribs threaten to keep him out of this week's game against the Steelers. The matchup wasn't a favorable one to begin with. It's even less favorable if your breathing area is perpetually sore. Hello again, Jamaal Williams.

Last week, there was a great disturbance in the Fantasy Stronghold, as if four voices suddely cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. Tyrod was taken from us under the guise of doing what's best for the Bills. Oddly, what's best for the Bills didn't include five first-half interceptions from a rookie quarterback who clearly wasn't ready to be thrown into the deep end of the pool. Sean McDermott might not consider Taylor to be Mr. Right. But he's certainly Mr. Right Now. And we're willing to accept that.

The Falcons offense has taken flight the past couple of weeks but there's still uncertainty as to when Devonta Freeman can rejoin the flock. The running back was able to return to practice on a limited basis Thursday but still remains in the concussion protocol. Freeman was officially ruled out on Friday. In the interim, we've been reminded of Tevin Coleman's talent. We'll again see that talent on display this week against the Buccaneers.

Choosing between Seattle running backs this season has been a lot like showing up late to Thanksgiving dinner. None of the choices have been appealing and generally leave you feeling like you're better off looking elsewhere. Yet if you are desperate enough (and have the stomach for it), McKissic could be your man. He led the Seahawks with 12 backfield touches last week and should be in line for another decent workload with Mike Davis injured and Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy competing to see who can be the least effective. But let's face it ... if Seattle wasn't playing the 49ers this week, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

I'm sure plenty of you are rolling your eyes and at least one of you will try to Twitter shame me. To which I proudly say ... dooooooon't caaaaaare. But seriously, any of you hanging on to John Brown at this point (which is 53.3 percent of leagues) can give up the ghost. Brown has been a major disappointment this year like much of the Cardinals offense. Now he's dealing with turf toe and head coach Bruce Arians is sounding more and more like a man who's willing to play some of his younger guys in an attempt to see if there are any building blocks for the future. We'd dreamed for big things from Brown this year. But this deferred dream has dried up like a raisin in the sun.

Once upon a time, Kelvin Benjamin was going to be a fantasy superstar. A big bodied pass-catcher who seemed to be Cam Newton's salvation in the red zone. Unfortunately, we all don't get to live happily ever after. Benjamin has been sent to Buffalo where he's still struggling to stay on the field, let alone make an impact. A balky knee has kept him out of practice and though Sean McDermott says Benjamin is day-to-day, I'm pretty sure that day doesn't mean Sunday against the Chiefs.

Weird dances and silly penalty flags aside, it's been a breakout year for the former USC star. Said season appears on track to continue this week against Arizona despite a knee injury that limited Lee in practice earlier this week. Blake Bortles has been less-than-average for much of the season but he's obviously built a rapport with Lee. That counts for something ... even if the wideout is likely to be smothered by Patrick Peterson this weekend.

Yeah, Greg Olsen is back. But didn't you read what I wrote? He might be a bit of a dicey play after missing the last 2 1/2 months. Kittle's missed time but not nearly that much and now he's expected back this week for the 49ers. I won't bore you with tales of Kittle and C.J. Beathard being former college teammates. Instead, I'll regale you with tales of the Seahawks defense struggling to cover tight ends. But about that college teammates thing ... yeah, that was also a thing that happened.
