This year's senior quarterback class has great depth. There are as many as 17 quarterbacks who possess the traits and characteristics that have led similar passers to NFL success in the past. There are no quarterbacks the caliber of Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill or Cam Newton in this class, but there are many prospects who could develop the way Drew Brees did in the NFL as a quarterback.

McCarron has the height (6-foot-4) and speed (clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.75 seconds during Alabama's spring junior day) necessary for the position. He completed 67 percent of his passes in 2012 for 30 touchdowns and just three interceptions. This guy is a winner. (AP Photo/Dave Martin)

Morris stands 6-foot-2 and has run a 4.67-second 40-yard dash on grass (which produces slower times than artificial turf). He has above average arm strength. He was to be redshirted in his true freshman season of 2010 but was thrust into action late in the season, making four starts and going 2-2 in those games. Murray is not real tall (standing at 6-foot-1), but he had a higher passer rating as a junior (174.82) than former No. 1 overall NFL draft picks Matthew Stafford (153.5) and Andrew Luck (170.2). At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Pachall has the necessary size. He was very good in 2011 (2,921 yards with 25 touchdowns and just seven interceptions). However, he was suspended for much of the 2012 season for reported drug use and saw limited action in four games. Pachall has come back this spring and played well. Boyd is not tall (6-foot-3/4), but has been successful over the past two seasons (winning 19 regular-season games). He plays in a quarterback-friendly offense. He lacks height (6-foot-0), but is a big-time talent. This is a Russell Wilson-type athlete; threw for 3,154 yards while also rushing for 615 yards, accounting for 29 touchdowns via pass and run.
