Starr and Gregg joined the Packers as rookies in 1956 and played together until 1970 when the offensive lineman retired in 1970 (Starr retired after the following season). The duo went on to win five championships with the Packers, including the first two Super Bowls, for which Starr was selected as the game's most valuable player in both contests. The two even became head coaches for the Packers, with Gregg replacing Starr after the 1983 season. Both were enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.

Lambert was once told that he was too small to play in the NFL but went on to become one of the game's most intimidating linebackers. Some thought that choosing Harris over Lydell Mitchell was a mistake, but Harris went on to have one of the most prolific careers for a running back in NFL history. Together they would be a part of a Steelers dynasty that won four Super Bowls during the 1970s. The duo went into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.

Slater started his career with the Rams in 1976 and would play 20 seasons for the organization, spanning four stadiums and three cities. Slater was a teammate of Youngblood early in his career, and both played in Super Bowl XIV, as the Rams were foiled in their upset bid of the famed Steelers. Youngblood famously played that game with a broken leg. Both were added to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001, a quick turnaround for Slater, but a somewhat long wait for Youngblood.

Green and Monk are two of the most beloved players in Redskins history, and for good reason, helping the Redskins win three Super Bowl titles during the 1980s and early 1990s. Green was one of the fastest players in NFL history, an intimidating cornerback. Monk was one of the most consistent receivers in NFL history. Both were enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

Vince Lombardi once said that Jergensen was the best quarterback in NFL history. Jurgensen excelled in an era that favored defenses prior to the 1978 rules changes, leading the NFL in passing five times. Mitchell was an outstanding player for the Browns in his early days, but he flourished when teamed with Jurgensen in 1962. Mitchell set a career best with 1,384 receiving yards in 1962, and topped it with 1,436 receiving yards in 1963. The duo went into the Hall of Fame together in 1983.

Montana and Lott were the two mainstays of the 49ers dynasty that won four Super Bowls for San Francisco in the 1980s. Montana was the quarterback of the offense, while Lott was basically the quarterback of the defense as a safety. Montana won three Super bowl MVP awards, but Lott was just as crucial to the 49ers' success. Montana is considered by many to be the greatest quarterback in NFL history. And it figures, many consider Lott the greatest defensive back in league history. They both went into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

Csonka became a running back by accident, catching a love for running the football after returning a kick during a high school game. He went on to become one of the most punishing running backs in NFL history. Langer was one of the unsung heroes of the Dolphins' offensive line in the 1970s, opening the holes for Csonka, Jim Kiick and Mercury Morris. Csonka and Langer would enter the Hall of Fame in 1987.

When George Halas needed a gate attraction, he looked no further than Red Grange who played collegiately at the University of Illinois, and whose unique running style earned him the nickname of the "Galloping Ghost." Nagurski joined the Bears in 1930 and became the personification of power football, as his straight-ahead style matched his unusual first name. It seems fitting that Grange and Nagurski would be part of the Hall of Fame's inaugural class of 1963.

Berry was a classic illustration of determination. He had to fight for a spot on his high school team, despite his dad being the coach. Berry wasn't fast but spent hours perfecting his craft. He would encourage quarterback Johnny Unitas to throw him bad balls, just to help him practice. When Unitas refused, Berry had his wife throw the bad balls. Many thought Parker would be a dominant defensive lineman, but coach Weeb Ewbank had different ideas, putting him on the offensive line where he flourished. Berry and Parker were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1973.

Blount was the prototypical cornerback of his era and a major reason why the Steelers were the dominant team of the NFL in the 1970s. Bradshaw was charged with running the Steelers' offense and distributing the ball among the team's many weapons. With Blount on the offense and Bradshaw on the Steelers, Pittsburgh would go on to win four Super Bowl titles during the decade. Bradshaw was a two-time Super Bowl MVP. Blount and Bradshaw were part of the 1989 Hall of Fame class.

Dorsett was only a rookie when the Cowboys defeated the Broncos in Super Bowl XII. White was one of the co-MVPs of that game, sharing the honors with Harvey Martin. Dorsett would be a Cowboys staple well into the 1980s and finish his career as the second-leading rusher in NFL history. White was known as the "Manster" and was a longtime clog in the famed "Doomsday Defense." Dorsett and White entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994. Jackie Smith, who played the majority of his career, was a teammate of the duo in 1978 and also was inducted in 1994.

Tittle was a seven-time Pro Bowl and most valuable player in 1963. His playing career included stops with the Colts, 49ers and Giants. About the only thing missing was that elusive championship, having lost in three consecutive championship games from 1961-63. After five outstanding seasons in Los Angeles, the Rams dealt him to the Giants for a first-round draft pick. Robustelli performed even better in New York and is credited with molding together the 1956 Giants team that won the NFL championship. Tittle and Robustelli were elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.
