Mind-blowing stats for 2015 NFL Scouting Combine
How can Combine performance predict NFL success? Find out with these 10 mind-blowing stats for the upcoming 2015 NFL Scouting Combine.

Since 2003, 46 wide receivers have run the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds-or-faster. Of those, 4 have recorded at least one 1,000-yard receiving season: Mike Wallace, DeSean Jackson, Lee Evans, and Calvin Johnson. In that same span, 129 wide receivers have run the 40-yard dash in 4.60 seconds-or-slower. Of those, 5 have recorded a 1,000-yard receiving season: Anquan Boldin, Brandon Lloyd, Hakeem Nicks, Kendall Wright, and Michael Clayton.

Since 2003, 14 running backs have run the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds-or-faster. Of those, 7 have recorded at least one 1,000-yard rushing season (Chris Johnson, Darren McFadden, C.J. Spiller, Jamaal Charles, Maurice Jones-Drew, Lamar Miller, and Joseph Addai). In that same span, 45 running backs have run the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds-or-slower. Of those, zero have recorded at least one 1,000-yard rushing season.

After brief stints in New Orleans (1984 and 1986) and Arizona (1985), the NFL Scouting Combine moved to Indianapolis where it has been held since 1987. This is the 28th Combine in Indianapolis. The first 22 Combines in Indianapolis (1987-2008) were held in the RCA Dome (called the Hoosier Dome for the eight events from 1987-94 before the building was renamed the RCA Dome). The 2015 Combine will be the seventh held in Lucas Oil Stadium. Four of the five fastest 40-yard dash times since 2003 came prior to the move to Lucas Oil.

There are 323 players scheduled to attend the 2015 Scouting Combine. Of those, over half (52.6 percent) come from SEC, ACC, and Pac-12 schools. The SEC leads the way with 69 players (21.4 percent), followed by the ACC (57 players, 17.6 percent) and Pac-12 (44 players, 13.6 percent).

15 quarterbacks were invited to the 2015 Scouting Combine, the fewest to be invited from that position since 2002, when only 14 QBs were invited. Three of those 2002 QBs went in the first round of the draft: David Carr (1st overall), Joey Harrington (3rd), and Patrick Ramsey (32nd).

Since 2003, 20 tight ends have run the 40-yard dash in 4.60 seconds-or-faster. Only 1 such tight end went undrafted: Tennessee State's A.C. Leonard, who was not selected after running a 4.50 second 40-yard dash in 2014. Ten of those 20 tight ends recorded at least one NFL season with 5+ TD receptions.

9 of the 15 quarterbacks invited to the 2015 Scouting Combine come from the 5 major conferences. That includes 4 QBs from the Pac 12 alone -- the most of any conference. The Pac-12 QBs are Oregon's Marcus Mariota, UCLA's Brett Hundley, Oregon State's Sean Mannion, and Washington State's Connor Halliday.

Since 2004, 32 Combine QBs have been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. What does the average first rounder look like? He is 6'4", 230 lbs, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.72 seconds - in other words, Andrew Luck (6'4", 234 lbs, 4.67 second 40-yard dash in 2012). For reference, prospective 2015 1st rounder Jameis Winston is listed as 6' 4", 230 lbs on the FSU website. Marcus Mariota is listed as 6' 4", 215 lbs.

Among all schools, Florida State has the most players invited to the 2015 Scouting Combine with 12. In fact, either Florida State or Alabama has had the most players invited to the Combine for four straight years (Alabama in 2012 & 2014, Florida State in 2013 & 2015). 2011 was the last time that neither Florida State nor Alabama had the most invites - when North Carolina led all schools with 12 players.

Since 1985, when each NFL team began participating in the Combine, only 3 players have been selected in the first round of the draft without attending the Combine. Those 3 represent 0.33% of the 906 first rounders selected in the last 30 years (since the Combine began). CB Darrien Gordon (drafted out of Stanford, 22nd overall in 1993 by Chargers) is the last player selected in the first round who was not invited to the Combine. The only other 2 players drafted in the first round who were not invited to the Combine are DE Aaron Jones (1988 - 18th overall by Steelers) and DT Eric Swann (1991 - 6th overall by Cardinals). Swann did not attend college and was not eligible to be invited under Combine policy.
