Nine players received the franchise tag this offseason, the most since a record 21 players were tagged in 2012. Broncos LB Von Miller received the exclusive franchise tag, the first defensive player since Richard Seymour in 2010 to receive that designation.

The 2016 free agent class includes 2 of 2015's Top 5 rushers. Doug Martin finished 2nd in the NFL last year with 1,402 rushing yards (behind only Adrian Peterson). Chris Ivory finished 5th with 1,070 rushing yards. It also includes Chris Johnson, who was 4th in the NFL in rushing yards when he suffered a broken leg in Week 12.

13 of Denver's 22 Super Bowl starters joined the team through free agency, including notable 2014 signings LB DeMarcus Ware, CB Aqib Talib, S T.J. Ward, and WR Emmanuel Sanders.

The Eagles and Colts were two of 2015's biggest spenders in free agency, yet both teams had a worse record than the prior season. The Eagles fell from 10- 6 to 7-9 after adding DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews and Byron Maxwell, among others. The Colts dropped from 11-5 to 8-8 after adding players like Frank Gore, Andre Johnson, and Trent Cole.

The last time 2016 free agent Antonio Gates caught a TD pass from someone not named Philip Rivers was Week 1, 2007 -- when NFL Network's LaDainian Tomlinson found him in the end zone for a 17-yard score against the Bears. The last time Gates caught a TD from a quarterback that wasn't Rivers came in Week 16, 2005 against the Chiefs -- from then-Chargers QB Drew Brees.

The Bengals intercepted opposing passers 21 times last season, 3rd-most in the league. However, 15 of those 21 INT were by free agents Reggie Nelson (8), Adam Jones (3), Leon Hall (2), George Iloka (1), and Vincent Rey (1).
