If Kony Ealy of Missouri is selected on Thursday, he'll be the sixth player in the last six years from Missouri selected in the first round. Prior to 2009, Missouri had two first-round picks in the previous 25 years (Justin Smith, at No. 4 in 2001 and John Clay at No. 15 in 1987).

AJ McCarron will attempt to be just the third quarterback to win both a college national championship and a Super Bowl. The only two quarterbacks to do so are fellow Alabama alum Joe Namath (1964 national championship and Super Bowl III) and Joe Montana (1977 national championship and Super Bowls XVI, XIX, XXIII and XXIV).

In 2004, seven wide receivers were taken in the first round, an NFL draft record. The first to come of the board that year, Larry Fitzgerald, is the only one of a group that includes Roy Williams, Lee Evans and Rashaun Woods to have a season with 100 or more receptions. The record could fall this year, however, as eight receivers have a chance to hear their name called early -- with Sammy Watkins rumored to go as high as second overall.

Assuming Johnny Manziel, Jake Matthews or Mike Evans are selected in the top 10, it will be the fourth straight year Texas A&M has a top-10 pick. This would be just the fifth such streak in the common draft era: Alabama 2009-13, Miami (FL) 2002-05, Ohio State 1994-97 and USC 1993-97.

Ryan Tannehill was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins, and fellow Aggie Johnny Manziel is a potential top-10 pick in this year's draft. If Manziel goes in the top 10, Texas A&M would be the first school since the 1990-92 Houston Cougars with two quarterbacks drafted in the top 10 in a three-year span (Andre Ward was taken seventh by the Lions in 1990 and Dave Klingler went sixth to the Bengals in 1992.

When Buffalo LB Khalil Mack is selected, he will be the first Bull selected in the first round of an NFL draft. It will also mark the second straight season a player from the MAC will be drafted in the first round, with Eric Fisher of Central Michigan the top pick last year. The MAC has not had a first-round pick in consecutive drafts since 2003-04, when quarterbacks Byron Leftwich (2003) and Ben Roethlisberger (2004) came off the board on Day 1.

Johnny Manziel weighed 207 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine. If he is selected on May 8, he would be the lightest quarterback drafted in the first round since 2003. Manziel is a full 10 pounds lighter than Rex Grossman (2003) and Alex Smith (2005), and 14 pounds lighter than Eli Manning (2004), Brandon Weeden (2012) and Ryan Tannehill (2012). Perhaps not surprisingly, the heaviest QB taken in the first round during that time was JaMarcus Russell, who tipped the scales at 265 pounds at the combine.

The Texans selected Clemson WR DeAndre Hopkins in the first round last year (#27 overall). If Clemson WR Sammy Watkins is selected in the first round this year, it will mark the first time since 2006-07 that a school has produced first-round wide receivers in back-to-back years (Ohio State: Santonio Holmes in 2006, Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez in 2007).

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney could join JaMarcus Russell (2007), Matthew Stafford (2009) and Cam Newton (2011) as the fourth player from the SEC selected first overall in the last eight years. Clowney, the 2012 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, would be only the third defensive player taken with the No. 1 pick in the last 20 years, joining fellow defensive ends Courtney Brown (2000) and Mario Williams (2006).

Fresno State QB Derek Carr has risen up draft boards in recent weeks. If Carr goes on Day 1, he will be the third Fresno State QB taken in the first round since 1994 (Trent Dilfer, David Carr). USC is the only school with three first-round QBs over that span (Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez). Should it happen, the Carrs would join the Mannings as the two families to have a set of QB brothers taken in the first round of the NFL draft.
