Mind-blowing stats for the 2015 NFL Draft class
With the NFL Draft in the books, see how the class of 2015 stacks up with these mind-blowing stats.

There have been 79 different players to win the Heisman Trophy. Yet the 2015 NFL Draft marked the first time ever that Heisman winners were selected first and second overall in the same draft. Prior to 2015, there had been only one previous draft in which two Heisman Trophy winners even went in the top 10: 2006, when USC teammates and back-to-back Heisman winners Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart went second and 10th overall, respectively.

Since Chip Kelly joined the Eagles in 2013 after coaching at Oregon, Philadelphia has made 21 draft picks. Nine of those picks (approximately 43 percent) came out of the Pac-12, one more than any other team in that span (Packers, eight) and three times as many as former Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh took during his tenure with the 49ers. Among the Pac-12 players selected by the Eagles: 2015 first-round WR Nelson Agholor, 2013 second-round TE Zach Ertz, and 2013 fourth-round QB Matt Barkley.

Three players named Shaq were selected in the 2015 NFL Draft: Shaq Thompson (first round by Panthers), Shaq Mason (fourth round by Patriots), and Shaq Riddick (fifth round by Cardinals). It is the second straight season that multiple Shaqs were drafted (2014: Shaq Evans, Shaquille Richardson). However, prior to 2013, there had never been a single Shaq or Shaquille drafted into the NFL. The name's rise in popularity can be attributed to NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, who was drafted 23 years ago in 1992.

FSU led all schools with 11 selections in the 2015 Draft, followed by Louisville's 10 selections. In the last three seasons, 29 players from Florida State have been taken, the most by any school in a three-year period since Texas had 31 drafted players in 1982-84. Among those FSU players are QB Jameis Winston, QB EJ Manuel and WR Kelvin Benjamin. The Texas players who were first-rounders include DE Kenneth Sims and DB Mossy Cade.

For the first time in the common era (since 1967), no Tennessee Volunteers were selected in the NFL Draft. That leaves just five schools with at least one player drafted every year in the common era: Michigan, Michigan State, USC, Florida and Nebraska. The longest active streaks belong to Michigan and USC, who last failed to have a player drafted in 1938.

The No. 1 overall pick (Jameis Winston, Buccaneers) will face the No. 2 overall pick (Marcus Mariota, Titans) in Week 1 of the 2015 season. It will be the fifth instance since 1970 in which the top two picks face off in Week 1 of their rookie season, and the first such matchup between QBs. In three of the previous four instances, the No. 1 pick defeated the No. 2 pick. The only No. 2 selection to win was WR Calvin Johnson, with his Lions defeating No. 1 pick QB JaMarcus Russell's Raiders.

The first Ohio State player was not selected until the 37th overall pick, when WR Devin Smith went to the Jets. It is the first time that the defending national champion didn't have a first-round pick since 2003, when the Buckeyes were once again the reigning champ and S Mike Doss was the first Ohio State player off the board at 58th overall (Colts). Doss would play six NFL seasons for the Colts, Vikings and Bengals, notching seven interceptions.

The Saints used their third-round selection on QB Garrett Grayson out of Colorado State. It is the earliest the Saints have drafted a quarterback since selecting Archie Manning with the second overall pick of the 1971 Draft. The Saints went 43 years between selecting a QB in the first three rounds, the longest span of the common era for any team. During that span, the highest-drafted Saints QB was Danny Wuerffel, who New Orleans took with the 99th overall selection in 1997 and went 2-4 as a starter with the team.

Garrett Grayson (Saints), Sean Mannion (Rams), Bryce Petty (Jets), Brett Hundley (Packers) and Trevor Siemian (Broncos) should be prepared to play immediately as rookies. In each of the last four seasons, a QB taken in the second round or later has started 16 games: Derek Carr in 2014, Geno Smith in 2013, Russell Wilson in 2012 and Andy Dalton in 2011.

11th overall pick CB Trae Waynes (Vikings) and 15th overall pick RB Melvin Gordon (Chargers) were teammates at Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The last time high school teammates went in the top 15 of the same draft was in 1997, when Bryant Westbrook went 5th overall to the Lions and Michael Booker went 11th overall to the Falcons out of El Camino High School in Oceanside, CA.
