Mind-blowing stats for the Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have not won a game started by a QB they drafted since Week 1, 1987 when the Chiefs defeated the Chargers 20-13 led by Todd Blackledge. Can they turn that around for the 2015 season with Alex Smith leading the charge? Find out this and more with these mind-blowing stats.

Todd Blackledge
- The Chiefs have not won a game started by a QB they drafted since Week 1, 1987 when the Chiefs defeated the Chargers 20-13 led by Todd Blackledge. Blackledge was a first round draft pick of the Chiefs in 1983. The drought is the longest of the Common Draft era (since 1967), at 25+ years. The next longest drought was by the Redskins, who went without a win from a drafted QB from the start of the 1967 season through November 1985 (Jay Schroeder). The Chiefs have drafted 11 QBs since 1987. Of the 11, only Brodie Croyle (0-10) and Doug Hudson (0-1) started games with the Chiefs.

First in-game lead
- The Chiefs went 494 minutes, 56 seconds in 2012 before taking their first in-game lead Week 10 at the Steelers with 8:37 remaining in the 1st Quarter. The Chiefs did not lead at any point during regulation (only win was in OT) in their first 8 games. The last team that did not hold an in-game lead in its first 8 games was the 1929 Buffalo Bisons. The Bisons won their 9th and final game of that season (19-7 at Chicago Bears), which also turned out to be their last game in franchise history.

Alex Smith
- When Alex Smith took his first snap with the Chiefs in 2013, he became the fifth quarterback to play for the 49ers prior to joining Kansas City. From 1988 until 2000, a former 49er quarterback started a game for the Chiefs in 12 of 13 years. Blame David Krieg, who started all 16 games for the Chiefs in 1992. Steve DeBerg, Joe Montana, Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac all started games for the 49ers before doing so for the Chiefs. All five quarterbacks also started a playoff game while with the Chiefs.

Eric Fisher
- Following the 2012 season, the 2-14 Chiefs drafted tackle Eric Fisher with the No.1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 2012 Chiefs had 6 players selected to the Pro Bowl (S Eric Berry, RB Jamaal Charles, P Dustin Colquitt, LB Tamba Hali, LB Justin Houston and LB Derrick Johnson), which is tied for the most for a team with the number one pick the following season in the common draft era. The 1973 Dallas Cowboys also had 6 Pro Bowlers, while the 1983 New England Patriots and the 1968 Buffalo Bills each had 5 players selected to the Pro Bowl. The Cowboys and Patriots both had the first selection due to trades, while the Bills earned it the hard way before selecting O.J. Simpson with the number one pick in the 1969 NFL Draft. The Cowboys selected Ed "Too Tall" Jones first overall in 1974, while the Patriots took Irving Fryar number one overall in 1984.

Andy Reid
- After 14 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid was introduced as the Chiefs head coach on January 7, 2013. Reid was 130-93-1 in his 14 seasons with the Eagles. Over the same time frame, the Chiefs went 98-126 with five different head coaches (Gunther Cunningham, Dick Vermeil, Herm Edwards, Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel) and did not won a playoff game (0-3). Reid has gone 20-12 in first two seasons with the Chiefs, leading them to 11 wins and a playoff appearance in his first season. Reid's 20 wins in his first two seasons as head coach is a franchise record (M. Schottenheimer 19-12-1).

No win since 1993
- The Chiefs have not won a playoff game since 1993 when they reached the AFC Championship after defeating the Steelers in the Wild Card playoffs (27-24) and the Houston Oilers in the Divisional playoffs (28-20) before losing to the Buffalo Bills (30-13). The Chiefs have 8 playoff wins in franchise history (since 1960), including Super Bowl IV over the Minnesota Vikings (23-7). In his 14 seasons with the Eagles, Andy Reid won 10 playoff games (10-9), but has never won the Super Bowl (0-1).

Jeremy Maclin
- The Chiefs wide receiving core caught 0 touchdowns last season and have not had a WR catch a TD since Week 14, 2013. The 19 game streak is one shy of tying the NFL record by the 1958-59 Redskins. Can new addition Jeremy Maclin break the streak against the Texans or Broncos to begin the season, or will Kansas City go down in history?

Lack of TD passes
- Chiefs quarterbacks combined to throw eight TD passes in 2012 (Matt Cassel 6, Brady Quinn 2). That is the fewest number of TD passes for a team since the Raiders threw just seven in 2006 (Andrew Walter 3, Aaron Brooks 3, Marques Tuiasosopo 1). The Raiders also received the number one overall draft pick, but squandered it by selecting JaMarcus Russell.
