Mind-blowing stats for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Can Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston make his mark in the team's history books? Take a look at these mind-blowing stats to find out.

Last season, the Buccaneers finished with the NFLs worst record (2-14), giving them the first overall pick for the 5th time in franchise history (T-3rd most in NFL). The list of Buccaneers 1st overall picks: Hall of Fame DE Lee Roy Selmon (1976), RB Ricky Bell (1977), RB Bo Jackson (1986), QB Vinny Testaverde (1987) and QB Jameis Winston (2015). Bell and Testaverde struggled throughout their time with the Buccaneers, while Bo Jackson famously played baseball instead of signing a contract with Tampa Bay, only to sign with the Raiders the following season.

Prior to 1995, the Buccaneers were coming off 12 consecutive losing seasons. The team went 7-9 in 1995 and 6-10 in 1996 to bring the streak to an NFL-record 14 straight, before snapping it with a 10-6 mark in 1997. The Buccaneers would make the playoffs in 5 of the next 6 seasons, culminating with a win in Super Bowl XXXVII following the 2002 season against the Oakland Raiders.

Ronde Barber, the only player in NFL history with at least 40 INT and 25 sacks, retired in May 2013 after 16 NFL seasons with the Buccaneers. September 8, 2013, was the first game Tampa Bay played without Barber on the field since a 1997 Wild Card victory over the Lions 5,733 days earlier.

When the Buccaneers arrived in Tampa Bay in 1976, they were shut out in their first game...and their second getting outscored 43-0 in those first two NFL contests. They would fail to reach the endzone in 11 of their first 28 games and lose an NFL record 26 consecutive games from 1976-77, averaging just 8.1 PPG in their first two seasons. By their fourth season, however, they would make it all the way to the NFC Championship with QB Doug Williams.

From 1995-2003, the Buccaneers had the NFLs best total defense and scoring defense, featuring perennial Pro Bowlers such as Warren Sapp, John Lynch, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, and Simeon Rice. But the big names on defense werent limited to the players. The coaching staff featured Tony Dungy, Herm Edwards, Lovie Smith, Rod Marinelli, and Mike Tomlin, among others all of whom would become NFL head coaches. Smith, Dungy, and Tomlin, in particular, would all go on to make Super Bowls as a head coach.

Rich Gannon won the NFL MVP for the 2002 season after throwing 26 TD passes. In the 2002 Super Bowl against Tampa Bay, hed throw 5 more but unfortunately 3 of those went to Buccaneers defenders. Tampa Bays defense had 5 interceptions in total, the most ever by a defense in Super Bowl history. They are the only team to ever have more than 1 interception for a TD in a Super Bowl.

Even Hall of Fame QB Steve Young could not win in Tampa Bay. Young played his first two NFL seasons with the Buccaneers after coming over from the USFL and went 3-16 for the Buccaneers. It was only after being traded to the 49ers prior to the 1987 season that his career took off. Young was 91-33 as a starter for the 49ers and led the team to a Super Bowl XXIX victory in which he threw a Super Bowl-record 6 TD passes en route to earning MVP honors.

Vincent Jackson has recorded three straight 1,000 receiving yard seasons in his first 3 years in Tampa Bay. No player has ever had four straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons for the Buccaneers, and Joey Galloway (2005-07) is the only other player to even have 3 straight.
