Mind-blowing stats for the Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans had two of the league's greatest rushers in Chris Johnson and Earl Campbell. But how to they stack up against each other? Find out with these mind-blowing stats.

Earl Campbell had arguably his greatest season as a pro in 1980, rushing for 1,934 yards in only 15 games. His four 200-yard rushing performances - including back-to-back 200-yard games in Weeks 7 and 8 - are the most by any player in a single season in NFL history. The 1980 season was the third straight year in which Campbell led the league in rushing, tied for the 2nd-longest such streak in NFL history. Jim Brown led the NFL in rushing in 5 straight seasons from 1957-1961.

Eddie George rushed for a franchise-record 10,009 yards with the Titans and amassed 10,441 yards in his career, 26th-most all-time. Of the 17 Hall of Fame-eligible players with more career rushing yards than George, 13 have been enshrined in Canton. George averaged 3.6 yards per carry over his career, however - a figure that is not only lower than any other 10,000-yard rusher but is the lowest mark among the top 85 all-time leading rushers.

Warren Moon had already amassed 20,000+ yards with the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League before signing with the Oilers in 1984. As an aggregate total in both his CFL and NFL years, Moon threw for 70,553 yards. By comparison, the NFL's all-time leading passer, Brett Favre, threw for 71,838 yards in his career - 1,285 yards more than Moon's combined total. Moon was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, becoming the first undrafted quarterback to receive a bust in Canton.

The Music City Miracle is widely known as the legendary kick return featuring Frank Wycheck's famous lateral to Kevin Dyson to win the 1999 Wild Card game over the Bills. The real miracle that happened that day, however, might not be the play itself but the fact that the Titans won the game after such an atrocious offensive performance. The Titans put up a measly 55 yards passing in the playoff win, the fewest in postseason franchise history. QB Steve McNair's posted a 43.1 passer rating, the worst of his playoff career.

Is Vince Young the worst quarterback ever to win rookie of the year? Young's 2,199 passing yards in 2006 are the fewest among the seven QBs to win AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. His 51.5 completion percentage is also the worst among a group that includes Robert Griffin III, Cam Newton, Sam Bradford, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger and Dennis Shaw. Shaw won Rookie of the Year with the Bills in 1970, despite throwing twice as many interceptions (20) as touchdowns (10) and posting a 65.3 passer rating. Both Young and Shaw only played 6 seasons in the NFL.

In only his second season, Chris Johnson joined the exclusive 2,000-yard club, rushing for 2,006 yards. If earning the nickname CJ2K wasn't enough, he also racked up 2,509 scrimmage yards to break Marshall Faulk's single-season record. Johnson's average of 156.8 scrimmage yards per game that season is 3rd-best in NFL history, but the most by any player during a 2,000-yard campaign. Johnson ended the season with 11-straight 100-yard games, the 2nd-longest in-season streak of all-time. Barry Sanders topped the century mark 14 times in 1997 in a 2,000-yard season of his own.

The 2009 season was a record-setting one offensively for the Titans - in both a good way and a bad way. The good: Chris Johnson became just the sixth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards. The bad: In Week 6 at the Patriots, the Titans had -7 passing yards in a 59-0 blowout loss -- the worst defeat in franchise history. Quarterbacks Kerry Collins and Vince Young combined for 2 completions and 2 interceptions. The first completion went to RB Ahmard Hall for 15 yards. The other went for a 22-yard loss by Nate Washington. -7 is the fewest gross passing yards by a team in a game since at least 1950 - as far back as STATS can check.

Fans of the Oilers/Titans franchise were able to witness the prime of two great rushing careers in Earl Campbell and Chris Johnson, with the slight edge actually going to Johnson over the Hall of Famer. Campbell had 1,000 rushing yards in 5 of his 6 full seasons with the team, while Johnson reached that milestone in each one of his 6 years with the Titans. Johnson was more successful on a per rush basis as well, with his mark of 4.57 yards per carry just edging Campbell's 4.55 average. Johnson also had more than twice as many receiving yards with the Titans (2,003) as Campbell (718).

Rob Bironas kicked his way into the record books in 2007 when he attempted and made 8 field goals in a game against the Houston Texans. Bironas set single-game records for most field goals made and most field goals made without a miss. His eight kicks included six from 30 yards-and-in, a 43-yarder and a 52-yarder. He capped off the performance with a game-winning 29-yarder as time expired to give the Titans a 38-36 victory.

In 2003, Steve McNair recorded a franchise-best 100.4 passer rating and was named co-MVP of the 2003 season with Peyton Manning. How close were McNair and Manning that season? The Titans and Colts both went 12-4 to finish with the same record in the AFC South. In their two head-to-head games, neither McNair nor Manning threw an interception, with the Colts winning both. Manning won 6 of his 9 games (including playoffs) against Air McNair in his career, including a 4-1 record on McNair's home turf.
