Mind-blowing stats for the Top 100 Players of 2016: 20-11
The "Top 100 Players of 2016" countdown continues. See the mind-blowing stats that prove why these guys made the list.

Is Richard Sherman the best cornerback in the NFL? It's hard to argue with the numbers. Since Sherman entered the NFL in 2011, he has the most interceptions (26) and passes defensed (79) among all players. And it's not like he's facing easy competition.
Last season Sherman matched-up against notable receivers Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green, Dez Bryant and Antonio Brown. When in coverage against those four, Sherman held them to 106 yards combined and didn't allow a single touchdown.

Twenty-four years old, DeAndre Hopkins had a monster 2015 season finishing third in receptions (111), third in receiving yards (1,521) and tied for seventh in receiving TDs. All three were career-high marks, which is more impressive when you consider that the Texans started four different quarterbacks last season.
But back to Hopkins, who became only the second receiver in NFL history 23 or younger with 1,500-plus receiving yards and 11-plus receiving TDs in a season. He joined Isaac Bruce, who posted 1,781 yards and 13 TD in 1995 also at age 23.

Patrick Peterson has also established himself as one the best cornerbacks in the game. And last season, Peterson made his claim as the best lock-down cornerback in the NFL.
Among all cornerbacks targeted at least 50 times in the regular season, Peterson allowed the lowest passer rating in coverage. Opposing quarterbacks had a dreadful 45.6 passer rating when trying to beat Peterson.

In just four NFL seasons, Russell Wilson has already built quite the resume. He was a Super Bowl XLVIII champion. Then there's the 46 regular-season wins, most in NFL history by a starting QB over his first four seasons.
Last season, he led the NFL with 110.1 passer rating and set the Seahawks' single-season records for completion percentage (68.1), passing yards (4,024), passing TD (34) and passer rating.
And to top it all off, Wilson has thrown enough passes (1,500) to qualify for the all-time passer rating record and currently has the second-highest passer rating in NFL history (101.8) behind only Aaron Rodgers (104.1).

A.J. Green has been a force since his rookie season (2011). He's hauled in 415 career receptions, which is the third-most in NFL history by a player over their first five seasons. Only Larry Fitzgerald (426) and Torry Holt (423) had more.
Green also has recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his five seasons. The only other player in NFL history to begin his career with at least five straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons is Randy Moss who posted six from 1998-2003.

Von Miller has 60 career sacks, which is the sixth-most by any player over his first five NFL seasons -- and that came with Miller missing seven games in 2013 with an ACL injury.
If you look at Miller's per-game production, his 0.84 sacks per game are tied with Reggie White for third-most since sacks became an official stat in 1982. Only J.J. Watt (0.94) and Mark Gastineau (0.86) have a higher rate among those with at least 50 games played.

Aaron Donald emerged as one of the NFL's best defenders last season, leading or tying all defensive tackles in sacks (11), QB hits (37), tackles for loss (22) and total tackles (69).
Donald also became just one of four defensive tackles to record 20-plus sacks in his first two NFL seasons. The others were Kevin Williams (22), Keith Millard (21.5) and Dennis Byrd (20).

Khalil Mack had more sacks (15) and tackles for loss (23) than any player in the NFL except J.J. Watt last season. Mack also had the biggest jump in sacks (+11.0) of any player from 2014 to 2015.
But Mack's most impressive accomplishment was becoming the first player in NFL history to be named First Team All-Pro at two different positions in the same year (LB and DE).

Carson Palmer had the best statistical season of his career in 2015 by setting career highs and Cardinals single-season records in passing yards (4,671), passing TDs (35) and passer rating (104.6).
But the one stat where Palmer shines the most in recent years is winning percentage. Since 2014, Palmer is 20-4, including the postseason, which amounts to a .833 winning percentage -- the best in the NFL over that span. For more perspective on that rate, the next closest QB on the list is Tony Romo, who at 16-5 has a .762 winning percentage.

Josh Norman became the sixth cornerback to switch teams in the offseason following an All-Pro selection. The others were Darrelle Revis, Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel, Eric Davis and Deion Sanders (twice).
Last season, Norman faced a who's who list of receivers: DeAndre Hopkins, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones (twice) and Odell Beckham Jr. Those receivers recorded just 18 receptions total when Norman was in coverage. And Beckham Jr. was the only one who got into the end zone vs. Norman.
