Mind-blowing stats for the Top 100 Players of 2016: 70-61
The "Top 100 Players of 2016" countdown continues. See the mind-blowing stats that prove why these guys made the list.

Carlos Dunlap has always been a productive defensive end, but in 2015 he exploded for a career-high 13.5 sacks. That mark was good enough to set the Bengals single-season sack record surpassing Eddie Edwards who had 13 sacks in 1983 (Note: sacks became an official stat in 1982).
Adding to Dunlap's resume of is that over the last three seasons, the Bengals DE has recorded 88 QB Hits. The only person with more over that timeframe? Two-time defending Defensive MVP, J.J. Watt (146).

In 2015, LeSean McCoy became the 25th player to reach 10,000 scrimmage yards within a player's first seven seasons. The who's who list includes the likes of Jim Brown, Marcus Allen, Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson to name a few.
For McCoy, racking up scrimmage yards is something he's done every season since entering the NFL in 2009. In fact, the only player to top McCoy's 10,261 scrimmage yards in that span is the Jets new running back, Matt Forte, who has 11,003 scrimmage yards since 2009.

Safety T.J. Ward has been patrolling NFL secondaries for six seasons; first with the Browns (2010-13) and now with the Broncos (2014-present). But it's his work around the line of scrimmage that showcases his toughness and versatility.
Over the last three seasons, only two defensive backs in the NFL have recorded 19 tackles for loss and 10 QB hits: Ward and Cardinals All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu.

Tackle Andrew Whitworth was drafted by the Bengals in 2006 and has played 152 games in that span. The only offensive tackle who has logged more games since 2006 is D'Brickashaw Ferguson (160), who recently retired this offseason.
But Whitworth isn't just available, he's productive. As the cornerstone of the offensive line, Whitworth and the Bengals have only allowed 84 sacks over the last three seasons. That's the second-fewest total in the NFL behind only the Broncos (76).

Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is the epitome of a ball-hawking safety. Last season he hauled in five interceptions, marking the third time in his six-year career with five or more picks. Among all active players in the NFL, Thomas is the only safety with three seasons of five-plus interceptions.

In 2015, Chiefs rookie Marcus Peters tied Bengals safety Reggie Nelson for the most interceptions in the NFL with eight. Peters was a much needed addition to a Chiefs defense that tied for an NFL-low six interceptions in 2014.
Yes, that math is right. Peters had more INTs in 2015 (eight) than the entire Chiefs team did in 2014 (six). Since 1940, Peters is just the second rookie to accomplish this feat, joining Lionel Washington who had eight INTs his rookie year compared to just six for the Rams team in the season prior.

Dolphins safety Reshad Jones had a monster season in 2015, recording career highs in tackles (135) and interceptions (five). But just how good were those marks? Jones was the only player in the NFL to make 100 or more tackles and grab five interceptions last season. And taking that one step further, Jones is the only Dolphins player in team history to post a 100-tackle and five-interception season.

Gerald McCoy has recorded at least eight sacks in three straight seasons. The only player with a longer active streak is J.J. Watt, who has eight or more sacks in four straight season. And since McCoy's streak started in 2013, he has the most sacks (26.5) among all defensive tackles in the NFL.

Since 2012, Demaryius Thomas has established himself as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL. His 5,787 receiving yards in that span are second only to the Steelers' Antonio Brown (5,818).
However in that timeframe, Thomas has done something only two other players in the history of the NFL can boast. Thomas joins Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt as the only three players in history with at least four straight seasons of 1,300 or more receiving yards. Holt posted six straight seasons from 2000-2005 while Harrison had four between 1999-2002.

NaVorro Bowman missed the entire 2014 season after suffering ACL and MCL injuries to his knee. But Bowman bounced back in a major way in 2015 by leading the NFL in tackles with 154.
It was an impressive season as Bowman joined retired linebacker Patrick Willis as the only 49ers with 150 or more tackles in a season since 1991. Willis led the league in tackles in 2007 (174) and 2009 (152).
