Mind-blowing stats for Week 9 of the 2014 season
Week 9 features two matchups between Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks. How do the numbers shake out when champions meet? Find out with these mind-blowing stats.

Andrew Luck has more passing yards (2,731) than 18 teams have total yards this season. Luck is on pace for 5,462 passing yards this season, which would leave him just 16 yards short of breaking the record set by Peyton Manning in 2013 with 5,477.

Arian Foster has 100-plus rushing yards in six of seven games this season. His 31 career 100-yard rushing games are tied with Priest Holmes for most in NFL history by an undrafted player.

Ben Roethlisberger is the first player in NFL history with two 500-yard passing games. Roethlisberger's 522 passing yards in Week 8 are tied with Boomer Esiason (November 10,1996) for the fourth-most in a game in NFL history. Roethlisberger also improved his record to 100-50 (.667) as a starter in the regular season, joining Tom Brady (116) and Pro Football Hall of Famers Joe Montana (108) and Terry Bradshaw (102) as the only quarterbacks in the Super Bowl era (since 1966) to win at least 100 games in their first 150 career starts.

Tom Brady's first career win came in a start versus Peyton Manning on September 30, 2001 -- a 44 -13 Patriots victory over the Colts in which Brady was 13-for-23 passing with no touchdowns or interceptions. The Raiders will play the Seahawks and Broncos in the next two weeks, becoming the 25th team to play defending Super Bowl participants back-to-back. Only two teams -- the 1982 Chargers and 1985 Lions -- have swept the two teams in that instance.

The Chargers have lost their last seven games at Miami. San Diego has not won at Miami since the 1981 AFC Divisional Playoffs (San Diego beat Miami 41-38 in OT).

Do the Cardinals have what it takes to stop DeMarco Murray? Arizona has the third-best rushing defense in the NFL (77.9 yards per game), and has not allowed 85-plus yards rushing to any single player this season. Dallas has the NFL's best rushing offense (160.5 yards per game), and DeMarco Murray rushed for 100-plus yards in all eight games this season.

Week 9 features two matchups between Super Bowl-winning QBs. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have faced off 15 times, but Sunday's game will be only the second time they meet in the regular season as the top two teams in the AFC. In Week 9 of the 2007 season, the 8-0 Patriots beat the 7-0 Colts, 24-20. Meanwhile, Joe Flacco and Ben Roethlisberger have met 11 times. Roethlisberger leads Flacco, 7-4, in these matchups (regular and postseason).

Haloti Ngata has 24 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble and six passes defensed. Ngata has more interceptions and passes defensed than Richard Sherman and Patrick Peterson combined. Sherman has zero interceptions and two passes defensed, while Peterson has zero interceptions and one pass defensed.

The Panthers lead the NFC South, but there are seven NFC teams with a better record (Dallas, Philadelphia, Detroit, Green Bay, Arizona, San Francisco and Seattle). A total of 19 NFL teams have a better record than first-place Carolina. The Panthers' 3-4-1 record marks the first time in NFL history that a team under .500 through eight games is in first place in its division.
