Since 2003, 11 players have run sub-4.30 seconds in the 40-yard dash: six wide receivers (John Ross, Jerome Mathis, Marquise Goodwin, Tyrone Calico, J.J. Nelson and Jacoby Ford), three cornerbacks (Stanford Routt, Jalen Myrick and Fabian Washington), and two running backs (Chris Johnson and Dri Archer). At the 2017 Combine, John Ross (4.22) broke the 40-yard dash record set by Chris Johnson (4.24) at the 2008 Combine.

The fastest recorded 40-yard dash since 2003: wide receiver John Ross (4.22) at the 2017 Combine. The slowest recorded 40-yard dash since 2003: offensive guard Regis Crawford (6.07) at the 2004 Combine. Ross was selected with the 9th overall pick in the 2017 Draft, while Crawford never played a snap in the NFL.

There are 336 players invited to the 2018 Combine, the most players invited since the 2004 Combine when 337 players were invited. Of this year's 336 invites, 311 players are from FBS schools (92.6%), 20 players from FCS schools (6.0%), 4 players from Division II schools (1.2%) and 1 player is from a Division III school (0.3%). The lone Division III prospect invited: Michael Joseph, a defensive back from Dubuque.

The SEC leads all conferences with 70 players invited to the 2018 Combine. This is the 10th consecutive year the SEC led all conferences in combine invites. The last time a different conference led in the number of combine invites: The ACC in 2008.

There were 95 underclassmen invited to the 2018 Combine, the most all-time at any combine. The previous record was set in 2014 & 2016 when 85 underclassmen were invited to the combine. In total, 106 players were granted special eligibility for the 2018 NFL Draft, which are the most in the Common Draft Era (since 1967).

Which school can truly call themselves the real 'D-B-U'? Since 2003, LSU leads all schools in the number of defensive backs invited to the combine (26) followed by Florida (25), Alabama (24) and Ohio State (24). Alabama leads all schools with five defensive backs invited to the 2018 Combine: Anthony Averett, Tony Brown, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Ronnie Harrison and Levi Wilson.

The average Pro Bowl running back to participate in the combine runs the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds. The average non-Pro Bowl running back runs the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds. Alfred Morris recorded the slowest 40-yard dash (4.67) among Pro Bowl RBs to participate in the combine since 2003.

Don't put TOO much stock into the 40-time for wide receivers. Since 2003, there have been more Pro Bowl WRs who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.60 seconds-or-slower (4: Allen Robinson, Brandon Lloyd, Anquan Boldin and Jarvis Landry) than Pro Bowl WRs who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds-or-faster (3: Mike Wallace, DeSean Jackson, Calvin Johnson).

The two longest broad jumps by a player at the combine since 2003 belong to two players from the same school (Connecticut) and position group (Defensive Back): Byron Jones jumped 12'3" at the 2015 Combine and Obi Melifonwu jumped 11'9" at the 2017 Combine. It is believed Jones unofficially broke the world record in the standing long jump set by Norwegian Arne Tvervaag who jumped 12'2" on Nov. 11th, 1968.

For just the 3rd time in the last 15 years (2010, 2016 & 2018), there are more defensive players invited (164) than offensive players (160).

The 2018 Combine will feature the most linebackers (40) and defensive backs (70) in any combine over the last 15 years (since 2004).
