Mind-boggling stats for 2018 Week 3
The Browns are looking for their first win, the undrafted Phillip Lindsay is breaking ground, and Ryan Fitzpatrick continues to impress. See what the numbers have to say with these mind-boggling stats for Week 3.

Patrick Mahomes set an NFL record with 10 touchdown passes over the first two games of the season, leading the Chiefs to a 2-0 start despite KC allowing more than 30 PPG and more than 500 total YPG in 2018. To put Mahomes' prolificacy in perspective, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees threw 9 TD passes combined over their first 3 career starts. Peyton Manning holds the record (since 1950) for most TD passes in the first three games of a season, throwing 12 over the first three games in 2013 en route to an NFL single-season record of 55.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers have started 2-0 due in part to DeSean Jackson and his three deep TD receptions (20+ air yards). Jackson only caught one deep TD from Jameis Winston all last season, and his five total deep receptions from Fitzpatrick match his total from Winston from all last season.

Since he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, no player has a faster time to sack than Myles Garrett (min. nine sacks). Garrett's nine career sacks have an average time of 3.71 seconds.

Are the Jaguars better without Leonard Fournette? The numbers would suggest so. Not only has the team gone 4-0 without Fournette since 2017 (8-6 with him), but Jacksonville averages 127.1 more yards per game without Fournette. Blake Bortles has 9 TD passes and 1 INT in those four wins without Fournette.

Todd Gurley may be due for a big day in the first all-LA battle in 8,715 days (Week 11, 1994). Gurley's 1,455 rush yards since the beginning of the 2017 season are the most in the NFL. In that same span, the Chargers have allowed the second-most rushing yards per game (127.1), the highest yards per carry (4.8) and the most yards after contact (2.5).

Broncos rookie RB Phillip Lindsay is the first undrafted player in NFL history with 100-plus scrimmage yards in each of his first two games. What's more, Lindsay and Saquon Barkley became the fifth and sixth rookie running backs since 2007 with 100-plus scrimmage yards in the first two games of the season, joining Pro Bowlers Adrian Peterson (2007), Chris Johnson (2008), Matt Forte (2008) and Kareem Hunt (2017).

Is there a more lopsided matchup this week than Ezekiel Elliott versus the Seahawks' running backs? Since entering the league in 2016, Elliott leads all RBs in rushing YPG (102.3) and rushing TDs (24). In that same span, the Seahawks have gotten 67.5 rushing YPG and 12 rushing TDs from their RBs, ranking 31st and tied for last respectively among all teams.

How will Tom Brady bounce back from losing, 31-20, in Week 2 against the Jaguars? Since 2010, Brady is 7-0 in the ensuing game following a 10-plus point loss (including playoffs), with 17 TDs, 0 INT, and a 120.8 passer rating in those games.

Don't let the Giants' 0-2 start detract from Saquon Barkley's impressive first two games. Barkley is just the fourth player in the last 25 seasons to have 100-plus rushing yards and 100-plus receiving yards over his first two career games. The others? The 1994 Rookie of the Year, Marshall Faulk, 2007 Rookie of the Year Adrian Peterson, and 2017 rushing champion Kareem Hunt.

The Browns lead the NFL with eight takeaways in 2018. They are the 34th team over the last 30 seasons to have recorded eight-plus takeaways in the first two games of a season. Twenty of the previous 33 teams went on to make the playoffs. Unfortunately for Cleveland, the Browns are the only one of those 34 teams that failed to win either of its first two games.
