There are a bevy of reasons for Dak Prescott to be confident heading into this week's Sunday Night Football showdown with the Vikings. Think again — Prescott is 6-1 with a 105.9 passer rating in his career against top 5 scoring defenses (based on rank entering the game).

Christian McCaffrey leads the NFL with 1,244 scrimmage yards and 13 scrimmage touchdowns this season. McCaffrey is on pace for 2,488 scrimmage yards, which would be the 2nd-most in a single season in NFL history (Chris Johnson had 2,509 for the 2009 Titans). McCaffrey is also on pace for 26 scrimmage TD, a feat only 4 players (3 of them MVPs that season) have accomplished.

Russell Wilson leads the NFL with 22 pass touchdowns and a 118.2 passer rating this season. The last player to lead the NFL in both for a full season was Tom Brady (36 TD, 111.0 passer rating) in his 2010 MVP season. Good news for Wilson as he heads to San Francisco to take on the undefeated 49ers and their top-ranked pass defense: Since 2000, QBs that lead the NFL in passer ratings are 5-1 vs the #1 pass defense (based on ranks entering the game) in Week 8 or later. Bad news: Wilson is 0-2 in his career vs the #1 pass defense (based on rank entering the game) and 0-3 vs undefeated teams in Week 4 or later.

The Chargers pass rush duo of Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa have been more effective at generating a pass rush when aligned on the same side of the defense this season. On 19 pass rushes with Ingram and Bosa on the same side, the Chargers have pressured the QB on 57.9 pct of dropbacks and sacked the QB on 26.3 pct of dropbacks. In the 108 pass rush snaps when aligned on different sides, the Chargers pass rush has pressured opposing QBs on just 14.8 pct of dropbacks and sacked QBs on 3.7 pct of dropbacks this season.

Lamar Jackson joins Deshaun Watson & Russell Wilson as the only 3 QBs with 6+ wins & at least 300 combined pass + rush yards per game in 2019. Speaking of Wilson, Jackson's Ravens defeated his Seahawks and Tom Brady's Patriots in their last 2 games. Those teams are 15-1 in all other games this season.

Minkah Fitzpatrick aligned at deep safety on 22.4 pct of defensive snaps in 2018-19 with the Dolphins. But since being traded to the Steelers, Fitzpatrick has aligned at deep safety on 84.7 pct of defensive snaps. The change in role has done wonders for Pittsburgh, as the Steelers went from allowing a 141.4 passer rating on deep passes (20+ air yards) in Weeks 1-2 (T-3rd highest in NFL) to a 10.8 passer rating allowed on deep passes in Weeks 3-9 (Lowest in NFL).

Michael Thomas leads the league in receptions (73) and receiving yards (875) this season. The last player to do that in a full season? Julio Jones in 2015. Thomas is on pace for 146 receptions, which would top Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison's single season record of 143 in 2002.

Baker Mayfield has struggled on passes under pressure (54.5 passer rating under pressure, 6th-lowest in NFL) and when not under pressure (75.1 passer rating when not under pressure, lowest in NFL) this season. The latter supports the idea that Mayfield's sophomore slump is more than just his protection's fault. Mayfield is currently the only QB with more INT (10) than TD (6) when not under pressure this season.
