One obstacle on his path to history? A meeting with the Patriots' #1 scoring defense. Since the NFL merger, Dan Marino vs the Saints in Week 13, 1992 is the only instance of the NFL's leading passer facing the #1 scoring defense on the road in Week 12 or later (based on ranks entering the week). That day, Marino had 259 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and a 77.4 passer rating in a 24-13 loss.

Aaron Rodgers will face the #1 pass defense in the league (based on rank entering the week) for the 5th time in his career when his Packers meet the 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Rodgers is 2-2 in his career in those games, with 8 pass TD and 1 INT. The 49ers, however, present an additional challenge to Rodgers. At 9-1, the 49ers have the best record of any opponent Rodgers has faced in Week 12 or later in his career.
