Mind-boggling stats for 2019 Week 5
Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady are looking for redemption after lackluster performances in Week 4, Bruce Arians may have cracked the Jameis Winston code, and Shaquil Barrett is performing better than entire teams. See what the numbers have to say with these mind-boggling stats for Week 5.

According to Next Gen Stats, Shaquil Barrett has been the most disruptive pass rusher in the NFL thus far. He leads the NFL in pressures (28), pressure rate (18.8 pct), turnovers caused by pressure (4), sacks (9.0), sack rate (6.0 pct) and disruption rate (20.8 pct) among defenders with 75 pass rushes this season. Barrett's 28 pressures are more than the Colts (26), Jets (22), and Chargers (21) have this season and are just 2 fewer than the Broncos' 30 pressures who let him walk in free agency this off-season.

Since Week 12 of last season, 22 QBs have started at least 8 games. Russell Wilson's 115.2 passer rating ranks 1st in that span, while Jared Goff's 78.7 passer rating in that span ranks 20th.

Holding a 2-0 record and 561 passing yards (most yards by a Giants QB in his first two career starts in the Super Bowl era), Daniel Jones has been the talk of the town in New York. But after tearing up two of the NFL's bottom 3 scoring defenses (TB and WAS), keeping his unbeaten streak alive will be more difficult this weekend. Since Mike Zimmer took over as the Vikings' HC in 2014, rookie QBs have a 3-5 record with a minuscule 67.8 passer rating in 8 starts. None of the 8 QBs have thrown for more than 1 TD, and they've averaged only 175.5 pass YPG.

Is Patrick Mahomes coming back down to Earth after his first 0-TD game of the season? Probably not. In 2018, including the playoffs, Mahomes had two games throwing for no pass TD, and he came back in prime form immediately following both. In the 2 ensuing games, Mahomes averaged 323.5 pass YPG, throwing for 7 combined TD and a 113.2 passer rating. And both of those games came against the eventual Super Bowl champs, the Patriots.

The theory that "QB whisperer" Bruce Arians could help revitalize former 1st overall pick Jameis Winston's NFL career is beginning to gain traction. Winston has increased both his passing yards and passer rating each and every week this season, building up to a 385-yard, 4-TD masterpiece in an upset of the Rams last week. In fact, only one QB has more passing yards and a higher passer rating than Winston since Week 2 -- and his name is Patrick Mahomes.

This weekend brings together Aaron Rodgers' favorite time of the year and perhaps his favorite stadium besides his own. Rodgers has a 28-11 record and a 107.8 career passer rating (as starter) in October, which is the highest passer rating for any QB in any month in the Super Bowl era (min. 10 starts). And the numbers only get better when Rodgers takes his talents to Dallas. Including the playoffs, Rodgers has played 3 games at AT&T Stadium: two against the Cowboys, and one against the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers is 3-0 with 293.3 pass YPG and a 108.7 passer rating in those games.

This Sunday looks to be a new chapter in a storied rivalry, as Lamar Jackson will be making his first career start vs. the Steelers and Mason Rudolph will make his first career start vs. the Ravens. This will be the first Ravens-Steelers matchup not featuring Joe Flacco or Ben Roethlisberger -- who have met head-to-head 16 times in the regular season -- since Week 17, 2007, when Troy Smith took down Charlie Batch for a 27-21 Ravens win.

Tom Brady will be hungry for redemption this week after posting a 45.9 passer rating in Week 4 (his lowest in a game since Week 9, 2006). Fortunately for Brady and the Patriots, the 0-4 Redskins are next on the menu. In six career games against teams 0-4 or worse, Brady is 6-0 with 302.2 pass YPG, 22 pass TD, 3 INT, and a 135.4 passer rating. And putting the Redskins aside, Brady is 11-0 with a 100.1 passer rating in the last 10 seasons in games following a sub-70 passer rating performance.
