Mind-boggling stats for 2019 Week 6
Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes will face off for the first time, Christian McCaffrey and Matt Breida are reaching record-breaking production levels and Russell Wilson might be making an early case for NFL MVP. See what the numbers have to say with these mind-boggling stats for Week 6.

Two of the league's youngest (and biggest) stars at quarterback will face off for the first time as Patrick Mahomes & Deshaun Watson play this Sunday. Just how impressive are these young quarterbacks? Their combined career passer rating of 217.8 will be the highest for quarterbacks who have each played in at least 20 games since 1970. Good news for Mahomes? In three of the four next-highest meetings, the QB with the higher passer rating won ... and Mahomes' career passer rating of 112.4 is seven points higher than Watson's 105.4.

Christian McCaffrey leads the NFL with 866 scrimmage yards this season, the most by any player in their team's first five games of a season since Hall of Famer Jim Brown had 988 over the Browns' first five games in 1963.

At 42 years old, Tom Brady is no stranger to facing younger, greener quarterbacks over the course of his career, but Thursday's matchup with Daniel Jones will be historic. Brady has 212 wins, 71,923 passing yards (18 away from passing Peyton Manning for second all-time) and 527 passing touchdowns in his long career. Jones has two wins, 760 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie season. The gaps of 210 wins, 71,163 yards and 523 TD between Brady and Jones are all the largest by opposing starting QBs in NFL history.

The NFL's leader in passing touchdowns and passer rating this season, Russell Wilson is making a solid case for league MVP. Wilson's combination of 9-plus yards/attempt and 70-plus comp pct. has only been done once in a full season by a quarterback with at least 200 attempts. That quarterback? HOF Joe Montana in 1989 ... a season in which he won league MVP and Super Bowl XXIV MVP.

The 49ers are one of only two remaining undefeated teams in 2019, and a look at their running game gives a good explanation why. Among RBs with 40-plus carries, Matt Breida averages a league-leading 6.5 yards/carry, on pace to set a Super Bowl-era record for a single season for RBs (min. 100 carries).

Though the NFL is an increasingly pass-happy league, this rematch of the 2017 NFC Championship Game may be largely defined by what happens on the ground. The Vikings offense has revolved around Dalvin Cook, who ranks second among RBs with 542 rushing yards and 5.9 yards per carry (min. 40 carries). But the Vikings' bread-and-butter on offense matches up perfectly with the strength of the Eagles defense, which leads the NFL at 63.0 rush YPG allowed in 2019. The five lead RBs to play the Eagles have only 2.0 combined yards per carry, and no player has run for more yards vs. the Eagles than Aaron Rodgers' 46.

Jets wide receivers will get some much-needed help at quarterback this week with the return of Sam Darnold to the starting lineup. Entering Week 6, Jets wideouts have combined for 411 receiving yards and 0 receiving touchdowns, both the lowest totals for any team this season. In fact, the Cowboys' top receiver, Amari Cooper, has singlehandedly logged more receiving yards (512) and receiving touchdowns (5) than all the Jets wide receivers combined.

The Lions haven't won a division title since 1993, the second-longest such drought in the NFL (behind the Browns, who last won in 1989). There's one Packers QB who is a major reason why. Aaron Rodgers has torn up the Lions in 18 career starts, holding a 13-5 record and a 109.0 passer rating, the highest of any QB with at least five starts against the Lions since 1950 (next closest: HOFer Steve Young at 104.2). This week's meeting will determine fist place in the NFC North, which may bring up bad memories for Lions fans; in both 2014 and 2016, the Lions and Packers met in Week 17 to decide the NFC North, and Rodgers' combined six pass TD led the Packers to wins both times.
