The NFL Scouting Combine is a vital event in the path to the draft. More than 300 prospects will participate in the 2019 combine in their quest to achieve their NFL dreams. Take a look at some of Mind-boggling stats of the NFL Scouting Combine.

Shaquem Griffin made history at the 2018 Combine, running the 40-Yard Dash in 4.38 seconds, fastest by any linebacker since at least 2003. Denzel Ward also made history with his 40-time and Pro Bowl rookie season. Ward ran a 4.32 40-Yard Dash at the 2018 Combine, then made the Pro Bowl as a rookie after the Browns selected him 4th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Ward's 4.32 Combine 40-time is the fastest by any Pro Bowl defensive back since at least 2003.

The SEC leads all conferences with a whopping 90 players invited to the 2019 Combine, 37 more than the Big Ten, which had the 2nd-most invites of any conference (53). The SEC boasts more than a quarter of the total players invited to the 2019 Combine (26.7

Alabama and Clemson's rivalry for college football supremacy extends to the Combine. Both had 11 players invited to the 2019 Combine, tied for the most by any school. Ohio State (10 players invited) is the only other school with double-digit invites

Baker Mayfield was the #1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after he measured 6' 0 5/8" tall at the Combine. History tells us that Mayfield was the exception, and not the rule. Since 2003, the average height of QBs selected in the 1st round is 6'3 3/4"

At the 2018 Combine, Saquon Barkley weighed in at 233 pounds. Among Combine RBs to weigh 230+ pounds since 2003, Barkley went on to set records in the 40-yard dash (4.40) and vertical leap (41"). The only other player at any position (since 2003) to weight 230+ pounds, run the 40-yard dash in 4.40, and jump at least 40" in the vertical was tight end Vernon Davis in 2006.

Since 2003, only 2 wide receivers at the Combine have run the 40-Yard Dash in less than 4.6 seconds, ran the 3-cone in under 6.9 seconds, jumped at least 35" in the vertical, had at least 15 reps in the bench press and measured in with at least 10" hands. Those 2 players – Michael Thomas in 2016 and DeAndre Hopkins in 2013 – ranked 1st and 2nd among WRs in receptions in 2018.

49ers tight end George Kittle set the NFL single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end with 1,377 in 2018. At the 2017 Combine, Kittle became the only tight end since at least 2003 to run the 40-yard dash in less than 4.55 seconds and jump at least 11 feet in the broad jump.

Since 2003, 4 players at the Combine have weighed 285+ pounds, run the 40-yard dash in less than 4.8 seconds, and run the 3-cone in less than 7.2 seconds. All 4 are defensive linemen, all 4 went on to be selected in the 1st round, and all 4 became All-Pros in the NFL. The players: Mario Williams (2006), Cameron Jordan (2011), Fletcher Cox (2012), and Aaron Donald (2014), who have 273.0 combined sacks (and counting)

Since 2003, 3 players at the Combine have measured over 6' 4" tall, weighed 265+ pounds, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds or faster, jumped at least 35" in the vertical, and had more than 20 bench press reps. All 3 worked out as defensive linemen and went on to be Top 5 overall picks. The players: Jadeveon Clowney (2014), Myles Garrett (2017), and Bradley Chubb (2018).

Since 2003, only 2 players who worked out in the linebacker group at the Combine have weighed over 250 pounds, run the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds or faster, and ran the 3-cone in under 7 seconds. Both were ultimately 1st round picks of the Dallas Cowboys. The players: DeMarcus Ware in 2005 and Leighton Vander Esch in 2018.

The two longest broad jumps by a player at the combine since 2003 belong to two players from the same school (Connecticut) and position group (Defensive Back): Byron Jones jumped 12' 3" at the 2015 Combine and Obi Melifonwu jumped 11' 9" at the 2017 Combine. It is believed Jones unofficially broke the world record in the standing long jump set by Norwegian Arne Tvervaag who jumped 12'2" on Nov 11th, 1968.
