Mind-Boggling Stats: How Daniel Jones' preseason stacks up vs. Manning, Mayfield
Daniel Jones continued his impressive and historically productive preseason Thursday night against the Bengals. He is outperforming a few notable quarterbacks this preseason, including the Giants' incumbent starting quarterback Eli Manning. See what the numbers have to say with these mind-boggling stats about the standout rookie quarterback.

Daniel Jones is looking more and more like a starter this preseason, especially compared to incumbent New York Giants' starter Eli Manning. During his rookie preseason in 2004, Manning's passer rating was 53.7, which barely holds a candle to Jones' 140.1 passer rating. For additional perspective, Manning has posted a 69.2 completion percentage, 6.6 pass yards per attempt, and 113.0 passer rating in the 2019 preseason.

Daniel Jones had another impressive game Thursday night against the Bengals. The Giants rookie QB played four drives, going 9 of 11 for 141 passing yards and a 118.8 passer rating. His first three drives all came against the Bengals' defensive starters.

Despite some controversy surrounding Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield's shock that the Giants selected Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall pick, Mayfield clarified that he wishes the best for the rookie QB. Jones didn't respond in kind, but his performance this preseason speaks for itself. Jones' 83.3 completion percentage is the highest in the NFL this preseason (min. 25 pass attempts). During his rookie preseason in 2018, Mayfield boosted only a 57.4 completion percentage.

According to Pro Football Focus, Daniel Jones' numbers have improved in his transition from college to the NFL in part due to his teammates dropping passes at a much lower rate.

Daniel Jones' productive preseason is even outperforming Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Jones boasts 12.3 pass yards per attempt, while Mahomes' only achieved 7.2 pass yards per attempt during his rookie preseason in 2017.
