Mind-boggling stats: The Patriots' new roster
There has been a shift in the New England Patriots roster. The Patriots are the only team, from 2017 to 2018, to lose their top two players in scrimmage yards (Dion Lewis & Brandin Cooks). They have since added new players like Jordan Matthews, Cordarrelle Patterson and Jeremy Hill to replace some of that production. The Patriots also re-signed some of your favorite players like Rex Burkhead and Brandon Bolden. Take a look at these mind-boggling stats of the new, the re-signed, and the lost players.

Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Jeremy Hill was acquired by the New England Patriots during free agency. During the 2017 football season, Hill had 37 carries and 116 yards. Jeremy Hill is 1 of 3 running backs with 3,000+ scrimmage yards and over 30 TDs between 2014-2016.

Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jordan Matthews was acquired by the New England Patriots during free agency. During the 2017 season, Matthews had 25 receptions and 282 yards. He led all Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers in receiving yards in 2015 and 2016.

Former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson was acquired by the New England Patriots during a trade. During the 2017 season he had 31 receptions, 309 rec yards; 13 carries, 121 yards, and 2 TDs. Since 2013, Patterson had six total touchdowns of 75+ yards.

Former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Danny Shelton was acquired by the New England Patriots during a trade. During the 2017 season, Shelton had 33 tackles and five tackles for loss. In 2016 he led the Browns defensive linemen in 59 tackles.

Former Atlanta Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn was acquired by the New England Patriots during free agency. In 2017 he had 9.5 sacks, 17 QB hits, and six tackles for loss. During the Week 10 vs. Cowboys game, he had 6.0 sacks which made him the most by any player in a game in 2017.

Former Cleveland Browns defensive back Jason McCourty was acquired by the New England Patriots during a trade. During the 2017 season, McCourty had 65 tackles, 3 INT, 5 tackles for loss, and 14 passes defended. He was 1 of 5 defensive backs with 3+ INT and 5+ tackles for loss.

The New England Patriots re-signed running back Rex Burkhead, running back Brandon Bolden, wide receiver Matthew Slater, offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle, and linebacker Marquis Flowers.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman is returning to his 10th season with the New England Patriots after missing the entire 2017 due to a torn ACL. Edelman set a career high in targets (159) and receiving yards in 2016 (1,106).

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks was traded from the New England Patriots to the Los Angeles Rams. In 2017 he had 65 receptions, 1,082 receiving yards, and 7 TDs. Cooks played one season with the Patriots in 2017.

Wide receiver Danny Amendola left the New England Patriots during free agency to join the Miami Dolphins. In 2017, he had 61 receptions, 659 receiving yards, and two TDs. Amendola spent five seasons with the Patriots from 2013-2017.

Tackle Nate Solder left the New England Patriots during free agency to join the New York Giants. He played 15 or more games in 6 of 7 season with the Patriots. Solder spent seven seasons with the Patriots from 2011-2017.

Cornerback Malcolm Butler left the New England Patriots during free agency to join the Tennessee Titans. In 2017 he had two INT, 12 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and 60 tackles. Butler is 1 of 3 players with multiple INT and 10+ passes defensed in each of the last three seasons.

Running Back Dion Lewis left the New England Patriots during free agency to join the Tennessee Titans. In 2017, he had 896 rush yards, 214 receiving yards, and 9 total touchdowns. He spent three seasons with the Patriots from 2015-2017.
