Next Gen stats: 2015's best runners
With the U.S. Olympic track and field trials set to take off this weekend, take a look at some of the best runners in the NFL with these Next Gen stats.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett had the fastest punt return in 2015, running over 21 mph against the Arizona Cardinals.

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Robert Alford tied with Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown as the fastest ball carrier, both reaching a max speed of 22.60 mph.

The top four speeds on a reception touchdown all topped 22 mph, with Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn at 22.44, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins at 22.13, Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson at 22.05 and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey making the cut at 22.01 mph.

The top five rushing touchdown speeds were slower, with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson clocking in the fastest at 21.89 mph.

Defensive players proved their speed on turnovers during the 2015 season, with both Atlanta Falcons cornerback Robert Alford and Buffalo Bills cornerback Ronald Darby topping 22 mph.

The Philadelphia Eagles had the top two long distance runners in 2015. Safeties Malcolm Jenkins and Walter Thurmond each ran more than 25,000 yards during the season.

Two of 2015's longest tackles came after 90 yards of running. Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah ran 91.9 yards on a tackle against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, while Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Connor Barwin ran 90.5 yards to make a tackle in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Four ball carriers ran over 130 yards on a single play. Los Angeles Rams running back Benny Cunningham ran 138.8 yards on a play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15.

San Diego Chargers running back Danny Woodhead proved to be the most efficient running, averaging just 3.18 yards for every one rushing yard gained.
