Next Gen Stats for Week 14
A certain wide receiver topped the record for max speed on touchdown twice this week. Find out who and more exciting stats with this week's Next Gen stats.

Five players hold impressive max speeds on touchdown for Week 14: Panthers' Ted Ginn: 22.44, Panthers' Ted Ginn: 21.70, Jaguars' Rashad Greene: 21.29, Jets' Brandon Marshall: 21.23, Bills' Sammy Watkins: 21.15.

Though Blaine Gabbert recorded the three fastest ball carrier speeds among quarterbacks this week, they were mostly cosmetic as he totaled just 19 rushing yards.

Though he danced his way to a first-quarter touchdown, Adrian Peterson was kept largely in check by the stingy Arizona defense. His fastest speed on 23 carries was just 14.79 mph on a 21-yard run in the first quarter.

Kansas City allowed just one of San Diego's 17 rushing attempts to go for more than four yards. Take out that play (a 10-yard run) and Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead needed to run 5.9 yards of distance per rushing yard gained. For context, Spencer Ware entered the week with the lowest distance per rushing yard gained (2.92) among running backs with at least 40 attempts.

Despite the big loss, Marcus Mariota showed more of his incredible athleticism and versatility catching a 41-yard touchdown meant for Antonio Andrews. Last week he recorded the second-fastest speed on a rushing touchdown reaching 19.25 mph, and his touchdown reception this week (18.70 mph) was the 14th-fastest speed on a receiving touchdown.

Todd Gurley got back on track in a big way. He topped 15.00 mph as a ball carrier six times against Detroit after doing so a combined five times in the previous four weeks.

Despite the loss, Sammy Watkins continued his stellar play, catching a touchdown for the third week in row. His 21.25 mph on the play was fourth-fastest on a receiving TD for the week. Last week he posted the fastest ball carrier speed by a wide receiver (21.78 mph) on one of his two 53-yard receptions.

Though Chip Kelly said before the game that Darren Sproles would handle the feature load at running back after a turbulent week with DeMarco Murray, Murray actually had the highest participation percentage (34 percent) of the Eagles' running backs.

With Rob Gronkowski back in the fold, Bill Belichick went back to heavier sets. He called for "12" personnel on 23 of 64 plays compared to just eight of 85 last week.

With Mike McCarthy taking over the play-calling duties came a heavier dose of the run game. John Kuhn was in for a season-high 42 offensive plays. His previous high was 26.

The top-10 season leaders for max speeds as of Week 14 are: Falcons' Robert Alford: 22.60, Cardinals' John Brown: 22.60, Panthers' Ted Ginn: 22.44, Steelers' Martavis Bryant: 22.30, Chiefs' Jeremy Maclin: 22.15, (and not pictured: 49ers' Torrey Smith: 22.13, Jaguars' Allen Robinson: 22.11, Cardinals' David Johnson: 22.05, Steelers' Darrius Heyward-Bey: 22.01, Vikings' Marcus Sherels).
