DeMarco Murray's resurgence from early-season struggle was short lived. His inefficiency returned, as he needed to run 4.49 yards for every rushing yard gained compared to teammate Ryan Mathews' 1.95 yards run per rushing yard gained.

Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray's resurgence from early-season struggles was short lived. His inefficiency returned, as he needed to run 4.49 yards for every rushing yard gained. Teammate running back Ryan Mathews, on the other hand, was incredibly efficient at 1.95 yards run per rushing yard gained.

Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson hit 20.03 mph on a vintage reverse-field 26-yard touchdown run that covered 62.80 yards. His max speed matched Lamar Miller's 54-yard touchdown catch.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch took another step toward returning to full Beast Mode, showing that you don't need breakaway speed to be an effective running back. Lynch averaged 4.5 yards per carry, including four runs of 10+ yards that never topped 15.50 mph. His top speed of 19.02 mph came on a nine-yard run to the sideline.

St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley posted his third consecutive top-five speed (21.21 mph) among running backs as ball carrier on a 48-yard scamper in the third quarter. It was his fastest recorded speed with the ball in his hands this season.

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram had one of the more efficient games by a running back this season, gaining 143 yards on just 14 carries. He ran just 2.38 yards per rushing yard gained, while backup teammate running back Khiry Robinson needed to run 9.17 yards per rushing yard gained on the same 14 carries.

The Miami Dolphins continued their explosive ways under interim head coach Dan Campbell. Running back Lamar Miller and wide receiver Jarvis Landry (14) were responsible for three of the 12 fastest touchdowns this week.

New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick showed surprising speed for the second straight week. His three-yard run in the first quarter was the second-fastest speed by a quarterback ball carrier (19.37 mph). Fitzpatrick has been one of the 10 fastest quarterbacks in four of the six weeks he's played.

Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden had a breakout performance, running efficiently and with speed. Leading up to this game, McFadden was averaging 4.52 yards of distance covered per rushing yard gained. Against the Giants, he was at 3.40. He also posted a max speed of 21.23 mph on a 15-yard run that was the fourth-fastest among running backs this week. He had previously not posted a speed over 20.00 mph with or without the ball this season.

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back T.J. Yeldon showed good patience in scoring his first career rushing touchdown. After taking the handoff, Yeldon slowed down to 4.75 mph behind the offensive line waiting for a hole. Offensive linemen Zane Beadles and Luke Joeckel gave Yeldon a 3.92-yard hole to run through and he exploded to 17.08 mph to score.

The fastest ball carriers on their way to the end zone during Week 7 all hit at least 21.7 mph: Cleveland Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin (21.97 mph), Carolina Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn (21.93), Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin (21.87), New York Giants wide receiver Dwayne Harris (21.78) and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (21.74).
