Next Gen Stats for Week 8
Week 8 was highlighted by wide receiver cornerback matchups with Amari Cooper facing off Darrelle Revis, Dez Bryant going up against Richard Sherman and T.Y. Hilton lining up across Josh Norman. Read below which players were able to succeed in their matchup.

Cornerbacks got the best of receivers during week 8 games. Dez Bryant's return came and went quietly. He was blanketed by Richard Sherman most of the game and had just two catches for 12 yards on six targets. Aside from one catch on which he was uncovered, Bryant had an average of 1.49 yards of separation at the time of throw on the other five targets. Meanwhile, T.Y. Hilton got the Josh Norman treatment. He had one catch on five targets when guarded by Norman, who gave Hilton an average of 1.41 yards of separation at the time the ball arrived.

Amari Cooper had to work hard for his yardage being matched up with Darrelle Revis. He needed to run a season-high 2.81 yards per yard gained this week. While Cooper was held in check by Revis, Michael Crabtree had a breakout game on Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie was guarding Crabtree on six of his seven receptions, and Crabtree caught the ball with an average of 5.28 yards of separation on those plays.

Seattles offensive line continues to struggle in protecting Russell Wilson. Though he was not sacked in this game, Wilson again had a high average distance per drop back at 15.80 yards, his third straight week over 15.00.

Rob Gronkowski finished with the two fastest max speeds by ball carriers in the game. His 47-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter was the third- fastest top speed (19.33 mph) by a tight end ball carrier this season

Alex Smith recorded three of the seven fastest speeds by a quarterback on the run this week, and the sixth-fastest speed on a rushing touchdown. (Waiting to get the numbers from research)

The Bears defense did a good job keeping Adrian Peterson in check for most of the game. He topped 15.00 mph just twice in addition to taking just three carries more than 10 yards (long of 12).

Michael Floyd had an extremely efficient day, running just 130.54 yards to gain 106 receiving yards on four catches.

With Ryan Fitzpatrick on the sidelines most of the game, the Raiders keyed in on Chris Ivory and gave him little room to run. Ivory averaged just 1.1 yards on 15 carries and needed to cover 14.04 yards per rushing yard gained. His previous low on the season was 6.06 against New England in Week 7.

Todd Gurley posted his fourth consecutive top-five speed (21.70 mph) among running backs as ball carrier on his 71-yard touchdown run. It was his fastest recorded speed with the ball in his hands this season. Gurley also was in the top four for accumulated distance as ball carrier for the fourth straight game.
