Next Gen stats from Week 3 of the 2015 season
A Cardinals player made an incredible interception during Week 3, while a Cowboy couldn't top his first quarter run speeds. Find out who these players are, and if these records will be broken soon.

The fastest ball carriers on their way to the end zone during Week 3 all topped 20 mph: San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (20.2 mph), Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green (20.4 mph), Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Phillip Dorsett (20.8 mph), Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (21.3 mph) and Washington Redskins wide receiver Rashad Ross (21.5 mph).

On Odell Beckham Jr.'s 30-yard TD catch, he used a fake to the outside to get a step on Bashaud Breeland. Beckham is near his top speed of 19.4 mph when he passes Breeland at the 10-yard line. Breeland, biting on Beckham's fake to the corner, is moving considerably slower at 14.3 mph. Beckham gets just enough separation, 2.0 yards, to get position and make the catch in the end zone.

Despite Carolina's lack of passing options, Rob Ryan's defense opted to let Greg Olsen, Cam Newton's favorite target, run free most of the day. Olsen had six receptions of at least eight yards, and was either left open or single-covered by a defensive back on each one. On his first of two 11-yard touchdowns, Olsen had a 3.3-yard cushion from linebacker Stephone Anthony while Corey Brown was bracketed and Ed Dickson was surrounded by three defenders.

Joseph Randle established himself as Dallas' lead back with a 3-TD performance, but take away his first three carries of 28, 37, and 20 yards, and Randle amassed 2 yards on 12 carries after the 11:00 mark in the first quarter. After getting up to top speeds of 17.33, 19.45, and 18.90 mph on those three big runs, respectively, Randle didn't get to hit his high gear the rest of the game. Randle topped 12 mph just once on his final 12 carries, and it was 18.23 mph on an end-around that went for -2 yards.

Tyrann Mathieu knew where Kaerpernick was going with the ball on his pick six before the quarterback even threw it. Mathieu began to close in on Anquan Boldin within 1.5 seconds before the ball was released; Mathieu went from backpedaling at 3.25 mph, only 9.1 yards from Boldin, to running forward at 16.16 mph to make the interception. His total reaction time was 2.6 seconds.

Week 3 was the perfect indication of Buffalo's explosive potential on offense with all weapons available. A Bills player recorded a top-five speed as a ball carrier in all skill positions against the Dolphins and LeSean McCoy wasn't among them. Tyrod Taylor (18.88 mph), Karlos Williams (19.76), Sammy Watkins (21.52), Percy Harvin (21.27) and Charles Clay (19.10) all showed game-breaking speed. Watkins' lone 39-yard catch was the fastest speed by any offensive player this week.

Seattle used a bit of special teams trickery against Chicago, with Richard Sherman fielding a punt from the gunner position and making a 64-yard return. Sherman traveled 45.8 yards to field the punt, then covered 77.4 yards on the return for a total of 123.2 yards. Not known as a speed demon, Sherman hit 20.8 mph on the return.

Opposing teams continue to run the Eagles' secondary ragged. Malcolm Jenkins and Walter Thurmond are first and second in distance covered per game at their respective positions, while cornerbacks Nolan Carroll, Byron Maxwell, and E.J. Biggers are 3rd, 15th, and 17th, respectively.

Antonio Brown was held without a catch when Mike Vick replaced Ben Roethlisberger. The way in which he was used changed when Big Ben went down. In the game, Brown's average distance covered per pass play with Roethlisberger was 18.76 yards. That number climbed to 21.54 yards per play, even though he garnered just one target. Roethlisberger's quick-pass connection with Brown was replaced by Vick holding onto the ball longer and failing to take advantage of Brown's skills.

Dwight Lowery's choice in the fourth quarter was a perfect display of reading the quarterback. Marcus Mariota stared down Kendall Wright's go route and thought he had an open receiver when cornerback Jalil Brown moved into zone coverage. But Lowery, 10.1 yards away from Wright and backpedaling at 5.9 mph when Mariota releases the ball, explodes to his right to a speed of 13.6 mph at the time of the interception.
