Next Gen Stats: Wild Card Weekend
They don't call it Wild Card Weekend for nothing. Drew Brees and Cam Newton had a quarterback battle and Jalen Ramsey covered a lot of ground to seal the Jaguars' victory. See who else tops the list for their playoff achievements in this week's Next Gen Stats.

Derrick Henry found success running to his left behind left tackle Taylor Lewan, with 148 of his 156 yards coming on that side of the field.

Marcus Mariota was at his best in the short passing game this week, going 16-18 with 147 yards and a touchdown when throwing for less than 10 air yards.

Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters was stellar once again in coverage on Saturday, allowing only 3 receptions on 5 targets for 22 yards. He also nabbed an interception.

Julio Jones averaged 4.2 yards of separation in the Wild Card Round, his best result in the category by far this season.

Todd Gurley now has 72 touches where he has broken 15 miles per hour this year, 17 more instances than any other player. Alvin Kamara is second with 55.

Blake Bortles had a mobility rate of 41.2% this week, his highest of the season.

Jalen Ramsey covered 5.2 yards of ground on his game sealing pick, which was the second-most ground covered on an interception thrown less than 10 air yards this season.

Coming into the game, both the Jaguars and Bills defenses ranked in the top 5 best in defending opponent deep balls as they had a 40.7 and 46.7 passer rating allowed, respectively. The Jaguars continued their strong deep ball defense, not allowing a single completion from Taylor all game. Bortles did not attempt a deep pass.

Entering the postseason, the Panthers and Saints were among the most aggressive defenses in the NFL, blitzing on the highest and fourth-highest percentage of pass plays, respectively. The wild-card matchup went as expected, as Carolina blitzed 47.1% of the time to New Orleans' 46.7%. Both Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Panthers quarterback Cam Newton did not have much trouble, with Brees posting a 125.0 passer rating and Newton with a 118.8 passer rating against the blitz.

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas had a huge game, particularly on targets of 10 or more air yards. He had a passer rating of 118.8 on those targets, and 95 of his 131 yards on the night came on 10+ air yard receptions.
