For Cam Newton fans, the Auburn quarterback's Heisman campaign never ended. Newton picked up right where he left off. In his first two games with the Carolina Panthers, he managed to accumulate more than 850 yards and five total touchdowns. Cam took the league by storm and eventually brought home the 2011 Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In Eric Dickerson's first six games with the Los Angeles Rams, the rookie running back racked up 787 yards (131 yards per game), 5.28 yards per carry and 10 total touchdowns (roughly two end zone visits per game). Amobi Okoye was taken 10th overall by the Houston Texans, who hoped that Okoye would grow to become a great counterpart to Mario Williams. Okoye made an immediate impression. Within his first four games he recorded four sacks and one forced fumble. Unfortunately, for the Texans, this hot start was more of a flash in a pan than a sustained career. Similar to Cam Newton, it was as though Earl Campbell simply put an Oilers jersey over his Texas Longhorns jersey. The No. 1 overall draft pick in 1978 proved his true worth the very second he set foot on the field. Campbell managed to open his rookie season with 137 rushing yards and a touchdown, then followed this with a 107-yard, two-touchdown performance a week later. The big talking point surrounding the 2012 NFL Draft was RGIII's league readiness. All of this talk caused RGIII to take the field for the Washington Redskins with a chip on his shoulder as he began his rookie year with 320 passing yards and two touchdowns. Griffin managed to stay hot passing for 1,067 yards, rushing for 234 yards, and racking up eight total touchdowns over the course of his first four starts. LaDainian Tomlinson's illustrious career all started with an incredible series of five games in his 2001 rookie season. Tomlinson opened the year for the San Diego Chargers with a 113-yard, two-touchdown performance. LT would build on this early success by rushing for 486 yards and rushing for seven touchdowns over the course of his first five games.
