NFL's best cleats: Week 14
As we enter the final few weeks of the NFL season, many of the players that used to be written about in this article have elected to recycle shoes. The Jordan athletes have been recycling the same old cleats for weeks and I question whether or not Adidas is even trying at this point. So here are to the few, the proud, the sneaker heads who have saved their best for the final few weeks of the year.
I have looked at hundreds of photos and seen dozens of cleats this season and these, without a doubt, are the coolest cleats I have ever seen. Look at the Joker-themed details. The "HAHA" written on the inside portion of the toe, the white and red lipstick the runs along the outside of the foot, and the eyes on the top of the toes all make these cleats incredible. I am in awe of these cleats and stunned by Beckham's ability to elevate the custom cleat game each week.
Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers rolled over an Atlanta Falcons team that have been horrific lately and Newton decided to remind us of all of his accolades (as if we forgot) with these Heisman-inspired C1N1 cleats. At a distance, these copper base cleats don't look like much. But upon further inspection you can see things such as "Sporting News Player of the Year," as well as a few stats from his college days written all over the shoe. I have praised Newton and Under Armour for their ability to churn out unique cleats but these don't hold a candle to what Beckham has been doing.
Jarvis Landry and Beckham have been close friends going back to their days at LSU. This made their matchup on Monday Night Football very intriguing up until we all realized that Landry's success was still reliant upon Ryan Tannehill's abilities. Landry took the field wearing a pair of custom Nike cleats that featured a small Batman logo inside of the yellow Nike swoosh to battle his longtime friend who was wearing the Joker cleats. A cool concept and the all black cleats looked cool, but sadly were not the best Batman cleats that were worn this week.
The honor of best cleats to feature a Batman logo goes to Mr. Sanu. He has been a much larger part of this article series than I had ever expected. Time and time again he has sported some of the coolest cleats. This week he chose to wear a pair of cleats with the Dark Knight logo on the outside heel and a small white and black bat logo on the upper inside portion of the cleats. We should all appreciate Sanu's cleat game because he isn't nearly as famous as Beckham or Newton, he isn't one of Nike's main athletes, he isn't living in New York (so I have no idea where he is finding an artist to custom his cleats every week) and he is still managing to grab our attention each and every week with a new pair of cleats.
