Pick Six: Best old-school NFL logos
The Miami Dolphins are going to reboot their logo, and in these times when retro is cool there is speculation the team could go old school -- which isn't a bad idea. NFL history is littered with some classic logos which would be primed for a comeback.
With that in mind, here's a look at the six coolest old school logos ever.

This is a pretty cool logo, but you can't endorse the Indianapolis Colts using Baltimore Colts logos or marks. The two should remain separate entities. That would be akin to John Elway running around in a Colts logo. You just don't want to see it.

You have to figure the team continues to trot out those horrible and unimaginative uniforms for its final days in St. Louis. Thus saving the good stuff for the return to Los Angeles. The team should revert back to this old school logo when that happens.

Well, since the old school uniforms are so superior, it makes sense the logo would be cooler, too. They actually gave this logo out as a car decal after the team retired Lance Alworth's No. 19 uniform a few years back. If you go back to 1960, there's a logo with L.A. on it, too.

The Browns' original elf logo had a crown to represent the team's domination of the AAFC and then in the 1950s NFL. The Browns have a pretty good history, so any nod to the past should be embraced as a good thing. But the plain orange helmets should remain. Those are classic.

The Broncos have a couple of cool logos, including another horse logo. But instead of the cartoonish one of the past, an homage to the Orange Crush days of Craig Morton, Lyle Alzado and the early days of John Elway would be pretty cool. Though, you can understand the fan base's desire to keep the new one, considering the team won two Super Bowl titles after the 1997 logo reboot.

The current screaming Eagle seems way too college football. Maybe if you could incorporate the current Eagles head into this body, you might be on to something there.

A lot of people really feel the Buccaneers made an upgrade when it went from the swashbuckler to the new pirate flag logo. I wasn't one of them. I know a lot of people like to joke that Buccaneer Bruce wasn't very intimidating, but it's the dudes who wear the logo that makes them intimidating. Seriously, Warren Sapp could have worn a helmet with Justin Bieber on the side and he still would have been intimidating.

Pat the Patriot was another victim of a team's desire to have a more intimidating logo. And that's cool, but why did the Patriots pick Elvis as their inspiration? Only a television set would have been intimidated by Elvis (Google that). I speak on behalf of all Patriots fans, please bring back Pat.
