Super Bowl rematches
There will be 19 Super Bowl rematches this season. Here are NFL Media's ranking of those games based on this season's matchups.

The Steelers won their fourth Super Bowl title to close out the 1970s when they knocked off the (Los Angeles) Rams in Super Bowl XIV. The Steelers hallmark from that era was defense, and this year's Rams team could have one of the league's top defenses.

Super Bowl XLVII will long be remembered as the Harbaugh Bowl as it featured two brothers (Jim and John Harbaugh) as opposing head coaches. But this game will take on a different feel as Jim left the 49ers to coach his alma mater, the University of Michigan.

The AFL made it two-in-a-row when Len Dawson and Hank Stram led the Chiefs to a win over the Vikings in Super Bowl IV. Now Andy Reid enters his third season as coach of the Chiefs, while Mike Zimmer is in his second season in charge of the Vikings.

The franchises have split a pair of Super Bowl matchups, including the Dolphins triumph over the Redskins to cap a perfect season in Super Bowl VII. Both franchises need a ton of work to get back to that level, though the Dolphins made a huge splash with the acquisition of Ndamukong Suh in the offseason.

The Bengals reached the Super Bowl twice in their history, but had to face Joe Montana and those loaded 49ers teams of the 1980s. The Bengals appear to hold the talent advantage headed into this year's matchup with all the departures in San Francisco.

The Bills were in their second of four consecutive Super Bowls when they faced the Redskins in Super Bowl XXVI. Things are a little less stable for the Redskins now, but the Bills have many new faces and a new coach, Rex Ryan.

The Steelers were Super Bowl veterans when they beat the Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. But now the Seahawks ride into this rematch with back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, while the Steelers have many changes in the secondary.

The Jets shocked the football world when they knocked off the NFL's (Baltimore) Colts in Super Bowl III, which gave legitimacy to the AFL. The Jets, under first-year coach Todd Bowles, could earn some legitimacy if they could knock off the Colts who are one of the favorites to win the AFC.

The Cowboys became the first club in Super Bowl history to hold their opponent without a touchdown when they defeated the Dolphins in Super Bowl VI, and Tom Landry's first Super Bowl win as coach. The Cowboys enter this season with Super Bowl aspirations.

John Madden won his only Super Bowl when the Raiders knocked off the Vikings in Super Bowl XI. Both franchises have struggled in recent years, but a pair of young quarterbacks makes this matchup intriguing.

The Cardinals lost to the Steelers in a thriller in Super Bowl XLIII. The Steelers still have their quarterback from their game, while quarterback woes have hurt the Cardinals ever since. But Carson Palmer will be back to lead the Cardinals this year.

The Packers won back-to-back Super Bowls after they took down the Raiders in Super Bowl II. The Packers enter this season as one of the favorites to represent the NFC. The Raiders have struggled in recent years but do have a young QB in Derek Carr which makes them interesting.

The Packers won the first Super Bowl when they overwhelmed the Chiefs in the AFL-NFL Championship Game (as it was called in those days). Bart Starr was the quarterback of the Packers during that dynasty and Aaron Rodgers has carried on the legacy of Green Bay QBs.

The Saints pulled out all the stops, included an onside kick to open the second half, to defeat the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. The Saints again pulled out all the stops this offseason to improve the defense as they traded Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks in a stunner.

The Giants just escaped to beat the Bills in Super Bowl XXV, which was the first of four consecutive Super Bowls for the Bills. Both teams missed the playoffs last year, but are loaded with stars including the Giants Odell Beckham Jr. and newest Bills running back LeSean McCoy.

The Cowboys beat the Bills in back-to-back Super Bowls as they established themselves as the team of the 1990s. Both teams head into this season with high expectations, especially the Cowboys, after last year's NFC East championship.

The Broncos knocked off the Packers in Super Bowl XXXII, in what was considered a stunning upset at the time. It commenced a last run for then-Broncos quarterback John Elway, who ended his career with two Super Bowl titles. Elway now hopes Peyton Manning can recapture that walk-off magic.

The only blemish in the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady era has been a pair of Super Bowls losses to the Giants. You know Belichick and the Patriots will downplay this matchup, but this will be highly anticipated by football fans.

The Patriots won their third title when they knocked off the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. The Patriots are now on the hunt for their fifth championship after last year's win over the Seahawks. Chip Kelly had another stunning offseason and he looks to unseat the champs.
