He was a one-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the Falcons' famed "Grits Blitz" defense of 1977 that allowed a modern-day record 129 points, which is better than the more-heralded 2000 Baltimore Ravens (165) and 1985 Chicago Bears (198). He was one of the league's top punters (leading the league in average yards per punt in 1967) as well as a productive receiver (leading the league with a career-high 1,266 yards in 1966).
