Top 12 fantasy WRs for 2014
Fantasy owners have to be excited about the wide receiver spot, as a number of young up-and-comers have emerged and will make the position even deeper for future fantasy drafts. Here's an early look at how the position will break down heading into the 2014 fantasy football campaign.

The most consistent wide receiver in fantasy football over the last three seasons, Megatron has finished no worse than third in points at his position in that time. A virtual lock to post 1,400-plus yards and double-digit touchdowns, Johnson is the lone wideout who will warrant a first-round pick.

Gordon, who had an average draft position (ADP) of 132.68 (Round 14), went on to finish as the highest-scoring wide receiver in the league based on fantasy points. One of the most impressive young players at his position, it will be difficult to pass on Gordon in the first half of the second round.

Thomas has developed into a fantasy football superstar, finishing among the top five players at his position in back-to-back seasons. As long as future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Peyton Manning is under center for the Broncos, Thomas will remain a coveted option in the second round of 2014 drafts.

Green has developed into a fantasy superstar, posting improved reception and yardage totals in each of his first three seasons at the NFL level. When you couple Green's abilities with the tremendous rapport he's gained over the years with Andy Dalton, fantasy fans should expect continued success.

One of the league's most talented young wide receivers, Bryant once again ranked among the 10 best players at his position based on fantasy points in 2013. He has been consistent as well, recording back-to-back campaigns with 90-plus receptions, 1,200-plus yards and double-digit touchdown catches.

Jones missed most of the 2013 season with an injured foot, but take a look at his numbers before he went down. In five games, he averaged 8.2 receptions and 116 yards as the top option in the offense for quarterback Matt Ryan. Make no mistake, Jones will continue to be a No. 1 fantasy wideout in 2014.

Marshall has ranked among the five-best wide receivers in fantasy football (based on points) over the last two seasons. The fact that the Bears have committed to Jay Cutler is great news, as Marshall has developed a tremendous rapport with his quarterback during their time in Denver and Chicago.

The departure of Mike Wallace opened the door for Brown, who took advantage of the opportunity by posting career bests in receptions, yards and touchdowns. The veteran ranked seventh in fantasy points in standard leagues and was third in those formats that also rewarded points for receptions.

Jeffery scored a combined 13.4 fantasy points in his first three games of 2013. He went off the rest of the season, though, averaging 13.9 fantasy points per game while emerging into one of the top young wide receivers in the league. He'll be drafted as a borderline No. 1 fantasy wideout in 2014.

For the first time since 2009, Jackson finished among the 10 best wide receivers in the league based on fantasy points. That was due in large part to the presence of coach Chip Kelly, who installed a more explosive offensive attack. Jackson will be a borderline No. 1 or 2 wideout next season.

Crabtree missed most of the last season a torn Achilles tendon, but he returned toward the end of 2013 and flashed some of his past statistical brilliance. He'll have an entire offseason and training camp to prepare for 2014, so I fully expect him to return to high-end No. 2 receiver status.

This was a tough call between Cobb, Eric Decker and Jordy Nelson, but I'm going with Cobb. A versatile wide receiver with an elite field general under center in Aaron Rodgers, Cobb will develop into a borderline No. 1 or 2 fantasy wideout next season. He could turn into a major steal in drafts.
