On Nov. 24, 1977, Miami Dolphins quarterback Bob Griese (12) passes during an NFL football game against the St. Louis Cardinals at St. Louis. The Dolphins set a Thanksgiving Day record by dropping 55 points on the Cardinals in 1977, as Griese threw for six touchdowns, a record that has since been tied by Peyton Manning.

Green Bay Packers defensive end Reggie White (92) hits Dallas Cowboys quarterback Jason Garrett (17) in the first quarter on Sunday, Nov. 24, 1994, in Irving, Texas. Garrett was the backup quarterback for the Cowboys who was filling in for an injured Troy Aikman and got the win against the Packers. He is now the head coach of the Cowboys.

Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders (20) races down the sideline for 80 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997, in Pontiac, Mich. Sanders set an NFL record by rushing for his 10th consecutive 100-yard game, gaining 216 yards and scoring two touchdowns in their 32-10 win.

In this Nov. 25, 1976, photo, Buffalo Bills' O.J. Simpson rushes through a large hole in the center of the Detroit Lions' defensive line to score on a 12-yard run for his second touchdown of the game in an NFL football game in Pontiac, Mich. Simpson added some "Juice" -- rushing for a Thanksgiving Day-record 273 yards -- to what wound up as a 27-14 Bills defeat at the hands of the Lions at the Pontiac Silverdome on Thanksgiving Day 1976.

Earlier in the game, Sanchez ran into the back of teammate Brandon Moore and fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Patriots' Steve Gregory and returned for a touchdown. The Patriots' official Twitter account sent out and then deleted a picture of the New York Jets' infamous "butt fumble" as the AFC East rivals approached Sunday's game in New England.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones returns a kickoff 73 yards and has to avoid Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in the process. Tomlin stepped onto the field and caused Jones to not return a kickoff for a touchdown.

Steelers running back Jerome Bettis begins to call "heads" and then switches to "tails" as the toss comes up "tails." But the Lions are awarded ball since rule says first call stands. Hanson hits winning field goal on Lions' first possession for a 19-16 win.

Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Clint Longley leaves the field at Texas Stadium on Nov. 28, 1974, with the game ball after he threw a long bomb to wide receiver Drew Pearson in the final seconds of the game with the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys kicked the extra point to win, 24-23.

Nov. 25, 1993, the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins meet on the icy field of Texas Stadium for an NFL football game on Thanksgiving Day in Irving, Texas. After blocking a field goal attempt with 15 seconds left in a snowy game, the Cowboys appear to have the win. But Leon Lett slides into the ball, which is now live; the Dolphins recover and Pete Stoyanovich kicks a game-winning 20-yard field goal with three seconds left. Dolphins win, 16-14.
