Week 1 Fantasy Franchise Tags
In case you didn't know, my nickname around the NFL Media office is "Franchise." And since I'm playing in somewhere around eight to 10 fantasy football leagues this season (exact number TBD), I figured I would continue my series of fantasy "Franchise Tag" players every week. Basically, it's a list of players, some well-known, some not so much, who I think will have a big week. Keep in mind that the fantasy "Franchise Tag" is a prestigious nomination, as not just any average Joe fantasy player gets the honor. I've narrowed my Week 1 list down to 10 players for your content consuming pleasure. And if you're all up on the Twitter, be sure to send me some feedback @mfranciscovich with #FantasyFranchiseTag and get this thing trending! Now let's get to it.

Hill's Week 1 opponent, the Oakland Raiders, allowed the most fantasy points per game to running backs in the entire NFL last season at a clip of 23.58 per contest. The Raiders surrendered 15 rushing touchdowns and over 1,700 yards to running backs over the course of the season. As the Bengals' featured back Hill is set up for a monster 2015 debut. He's my No. 4 ranked RB for the week and gets my fantasy "Franchise Tag" for Cincinnati's season opener in Oakland.

Landry might have been one of the best draft bargains of this season as the lead wide receiver in Miami who was hanging around draft boards until, on average, Round 6. He's known to be a a reception hog as he posted seven or more catches in five of Miami's final eight games last year and has built great chemistry with Ryan Tannehill after just one season in the league. Throw in a matchup against a Swiss cheese Washington secondary in Week 1, and Landry gets the fantasy "Franchise Tag" treatment.

With Kelvin Benjamin out, Carolina's receiving corps is down to Ted Ginn, Corey Brown and rookie Devin Funchess. So expect Cam Newton to lean on his most reliable target against the Jaguars on Sunday. I mean, somebody has to catch the passes, right? In Olsen's last meeting against Jacksonville, he caught seven passes for 57 yards and a game-winning touchdown. Therefore, the veteran tight end gets my fantasy "Franchise Tag" for Week 1

Sometimes, we fantasy analysts just have to go with our gut. And for some reason, even in a tough matchup, I have a gut feeling about Wilson. So that's why he gets my fantasy "Franchise Tag" for Week 1. He'll be looking to live up to his big new contract and has added a few great weapons in the passing game including red zone dominator Jimmy Graham and newly acquired running back Fred Jackson. Jackson in particular could help Wilson rack up passing yards according to coach Pete Carroll, at least. And of course, Wilson can get it done with his feet when he needs to and is always a threat to run in a score himself.

You could say I'm high on Green this week as I'm the only analyst on NFL.com/fantasy who has him ranked as a top-five fantasy wide receiver for Week 1. In his lone career meeting against the Raiders Green posted 111 receiving yards on a mere three catches. He'll be looking to bounce back after an injury plagued 2014 season and should open the 2015 campaign with a bang following a shiny new contract agreement. For all of the above reasons, Green gets my fantasy "Franchise Tag" for Week 1.

In a handful of my fantasy leagues, I went with the "Zero RB" draft strategy and managed to scoop up Ellington as my RB2 in the middle rounds. I feel great about deploying him in Week 1 against a Saints defense that gave up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing running backs a season ago. And that's part of the reason I have him ranked as my No. 11 running back this week. Ellington will be the Cardinals lead runner as he looks to put up solid numbers following an injury-plagued campaign. He's got fantasy "Franchise Tag" honors for Week 1.

Matthews was one of my original "Franchise Tag" players for fantasy drafts heading into the season as Philly's top option in the passing attack. His Week 1 matchup against an Atlanta defense that surrendered 24.48 fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts in standard scoring leagues last season is just too juicy to pass over. In what should be a high-scoring affair on Monday night, I'll slap the fantasy "Franchise Tag" on Matthews as a late Week 1 fantasy matchup savior.

It all started with one small comment about how I had a little faith in Kamar Aiken as a sleeper wideout in Baltimore with rookie Breshad Perriman sidelined. Aiken had been the favorite for the No. 2 job alongside Steve Smith all preseason and now that the regular season is finally here, some folks are buying in. Even our WR guru Matt Harmon is on board. Now, I'm not saying Aiken is going to be a top-20 option in fantasy at the end of the season, but I do see him putting up consistent numbers worthy of deeper league flex consideration as long as he's got a starting gig. If the Ravens want to keep pace with Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense on Sunday, Joe Flacco will have to get creative in the passing game and feed his top wideouts frequently. Aiken gets my fantasy "Franchise Tag" for Week 1 as an under-the-radar play that could result in a waiver-wire frenzy come Sunday evening.

The last time the Browns met the Jets, Ivory rushed for 109 yards on 20 carries. He' locked in as the Jets No. 1 running back and should play on all three downs for most of the game which makes him even more valuable as a fantasy asset. I have Ivory ranked just inside my top 20 RBs for Week 1 and he gets the fantasy "Franchise Tag" as he should produce solid RB2 numbers.

I hate to say it, but Lewis might be the most reliable option in the New England backfield for Week 1, especially in PPR formats. With LeGarrette Blount serving a suspension, Lewis projects to have a major role catching passes out of the Patriots' backfield and is the favorite for any goal-line carries against the Steelers on Thursday night. Lewis gets my fantasy "Franchise Tag" as a flex RB for Week 1.
