Week 12 fantasy stock watch
The NFL changes in an instant, which is why it's important to stay abreast of how your players are looking prior to Sundays. This is especially true this week as we finish up the bye weeks, and have a number of marquee players dealing with, or returning from injuries. Below is a look at whose stock is rising, and whose is falling, as we approach Week 12. Keep an eye on these players heading into Sunday to help make the right choices for your fantasy lineup, as their stock could be on the move again before kickoff.

He's back, gang. Finally! And although there's been talk of the team being "very smart" with how he's utilized coming off of 11 weeks without football, Gordon's stock is on the rise now that he's back on the football field.

First of all, these two had been splitting carries more in recent weeks, limiting the value of either. Second, they both suffered recent injuries and have been limited (McKinnon) or not participating (Asiata) all week long in practice. Third, the Vikings just claimed Ben Tate off of waivers? All told, this is now a backfield situation to avoid more than ever.

Hill has filled in admirably for the injured Giovani Bernard, and even though Gio could return on Sunday, the team admits that Hill "deserves" more touches. This bodes well for Hill, as while his stock takes a minor hit, it remains relatively high. Hill should have another week or two of RB2 value as the team slowly works back in Bernard. He does lead all running backs with 361 rushing yards in the month of November, after all.

Boy, this situation in Washington is getting hard to watch. And by that, I mean the back-and-forth media bickering by RGIII and his head coach, Jay Gruden. But I guess you could say RGIII's on-field play has been hard to watch lately as well. His footwork has been sloppy and he's looking to run far too often, even when there isn't immediate pressure. His stock was looking up when he came back from his injury, but it is starting to look like the 2014 fantasy season might be a lost one for RGIII.

After a slow start, Lacy is actually averaging more yards per rush and far more yards per catch than he did during his Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign a year ago. And he's doing all of this despite having 43 fewer rushes than he did after 10 games last year. His increased production has a lot to do with his growing role in the passing game, as he has just 8 fewer catches after 10 games in 2014 than he did in all of 2013. And he already has 65 more receiving yards than he did all last year, too. The good news is that Lacy will be fresh for a heavier workload as the temperature continues to drop and the Packers fight for a top seed in the NFC playoffs.

Foster missed Week 11 with a groin injury, and his status is up in the air for this weekend's game against the Bengals. Foster practiced on Wednesday, but sat out on Thursday and is officially labeled as a "game-time decision," much to the ire of his fantasy owners. There's a chance the team is overly cautious with their star running back this weekend, given the success his replacement had in his stead. Speaking of ...

Filling in for Foster last week, Blue set a franchise record with 36 carries for a career-high 156 rushing yards. If you scooped up Blue off of waivers last week, or had handcuffed him to Foster earlier in the season, you might get one more week of solid production from the LSU product.

Look, I know Gray was awesome last week, running hard, breaking tackles and scoring four touchdowns. However, there is a serious concern for #Belitricks coming in this next matchup against the Detroit Lions, who have one of the stoutest defensive lines in the NFL. Ndamukong Suh and Ezekiel Ansah won't be pushed around as easily as the Colts front. Factor in the arrival of LeGarrette Blount and Gray oversleeping on Friday (forcing him to miss practice), and Gray's stock might have reached its peak in Week 11. This isn't to say he won't have value moving forward, but just don't get caught chasing the points.

For Richardson, it appears fortune favors the slow and durable. With Ahmad Bradshaw on injured reserve, the Colts backfield belongs to Richardson and Boom Herron for the time being, with Richardson the most likely beneficiary. The biggest uptick in production for Richardson could come from an increased role in the passing game, that allowed Bradshaw to score a league-leading six receiving touchdowns by a running back. I'd be more than comfortable starting T-Rich as a flex if I owned him in any leagues.

It's a bummer for both of these backs that their time as the starting Broncos running back has been cut short by injuries, as both figure to be out for a few more weeks. It's also a bummer, because that gives the next guy on the list more time to completely take over the backfield.

I've seen plenty of smart football people trumpeting for Anderson for a while, including Adam Rank who had Anderson as one of his offseason sleepers. In his brief time on the field, Anderson has looked far and away like the most dynamic back of the bunch, and with the backfield basically to himself for the next two weeks, he could cement a much bigger role for himself if he continues to produce.

Fitz sprained his MCL last week, missed the team's practices on Wednesday and Thursday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday. Oh, and did I mention that the Cardinals are in Seattle, facing the Legion of Boom who will be desperate for a win? Yeah, now you can see why Fitz's stock is on the decline, at least for the immediate future.

The good news is that Thomas' ankle injury has been deemed minor, but the bad news is that he didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Thomas earned a "questionable" tag heading into Sunday's game, which will infuriate his owners. If possible, try to pick up someone on waivers who plays at the same time or after Thomas (Niles Paul, Jace Amaro and Scott Chandler are all viable options) that way if Thomas doesn't go, you have a fail-safe in place.

While Thomas could end up playing through his injury, Sanders' concussion originally raised more causes for concern. He also missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but returned to practice on Friday and is officially listed as probable. Fortunately for his owners, he passed the concussion protocol on Thursday night and should be good to go on Sunday.

Ingram has practiced in full this week, which is a step up from his limited practices last week. While Pierre Thomas could return to action this week, he shouldn't inhibit Ingram's ability to produce. While the matchup on paper against the Ravens doesn't look great (they're No. 1 in fewest fantasy points allowed to running backs), Ingram has beaten bad matchups before and should do so again versus Baltimore.

I've had Patterson in the stock down column for pretty much the last eight weeks, and I think this is the last time I'll feature him here. I felt I needed to address the fact that in addition to him not getting open and struggling with his routes is that he's not having fun right now. Oh boy. If you haven't already, it's safe to jump ship.

Thank goodness all of the "hot hand" hooey has been laid to rest in St. Louis as the Rams are riding with Mason, their most talented back. He carried the ball 29 times against the Denver Broncos last week and became the first rusher to crack the 100-yard barrier against the team this season. He's a solid RB2 from here on out.

Reed is dealing with a hamstring injury (again) and missed practice again on Friday. His odds of suiting up on Sunday are very low, so if you'd been counting on Reed, be sure to pick up Niles Paul off of the waiver wire if he's available.

Romo has been practicing all week, and has a great upcoming schedule for fantasy owners who were patient with the Dallas signal-caller. He could start to get on a roll on Sunday against the Giants secondary.

Allen missed practice again on Friday and is now officially out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. If you're looking for alternatives, Coby Fleener could be a decent spot-start as he caught all seven of his targets last week with Allen sidelined for much of the game against the Patriots.
