Week 2 Fantasy stock watch
We've only had one week of fantasy football so far, and already a lot has changed. Below is a recap on whose stock is rising, and whose is falling, as we head into Week 2 to help you get primed for fantasy success.

Lacy had a rough go in Week 1, grinding out a few hard yards against Seattle before missing most of the second half with a concussion. Well, Lacy is back at practice and should see plenty of opportunities against the Jets. They have a stout defensive line, but Lacy is a good bet to produce in Week 2 given the potency of his offense.

Everyone who was hoping that Richardson would look like a new man in 2014 was sorely disappointed with his performance against the Denver Broncos. Ahmad Bradshaw looked like the more competent and talented back, which has led to head coach Chuck Pagano to create a committee in Indy. Things are not looking good for T-Rich.

Green was dealing with a foot injury this week, and received a day off from the team to recover. He was back at practice and all signs point to another big outing for the Bengals top offensive weapon.

After Fitzgerald performed a disappearing act on Monday Night Football, head coach Bruce Arians revealed that his star wideout had been dealing with a bum knee. He also added that the offense will no longer need to force the ball to the venerable pass-catcher as it has in the past. Fitz still has value in fantasy, but it's starting to diminish a bit.

When Ben Tate suffered a knee injury in Week 1, it was West who stepped up to carry the load for the Browns offense. He became the first rookie running back to compile over 100 yards on the ground in a season opener since Matt Forte in 2008. Tate will be out for a few weeks (more on that below), meaning West will have another chance to solidify his position in the Browns backfield.

After "winning" the starting running back job for the Browns during the preseason, Tate saw his opportunity quickly taken away when he suffered a knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tate will be sidelined around two to four weeks, and could find himself in a very different role in the backfield given the success of West.

Newton missed Week 1 recovering from a rib injury, but is ready to roll in Week 2. He likely won't look like the same Newton we're used to in terms of scrambling, but he has a good chance to make a statement on Sunday against the Detroit Lions and their improved, but still work-in-progress secondary. The matchup isn't ideal, but having Cam back as a starter is a good sign for the Panthers and fantasy owners.

Griffin's struggles continued on Sunday, and his situation hasn't gotten any better as he'll be without talented tight end Jordan Reed for a while. He's a risky fantasy play until we see positive returns on the field.

With Tyler Eifert on injured reserve, Gresham could see an uptick in targets with the Bengals. He hasn't launched into TE1 territory, but he will be worth watching on Sunday. If he shines, he could become a nice matchup-based play at tight end.

Cruz has suffered mightily amidst the Giants' offensive struggles. He saw six targets in Week 1, but was only able to haul in two passes for 24 yards. Until the Giants offense is able to turn things around Cruz is a risky play, especially against a tough Cardinals defense in Week 2.

Many thought Moreno would suffer without Peyton Manning under center. He dismissed that notion in emphatic fashion in Week 1, rushing for 134 yards (second-most in the NFL). He'll still likely split some carries with Lamar Miller, but Moreno's stock is on the rise in Miami and fantasy land.

Martin's disappointing Week 1 performance (nine carries, nine yards) was made worse when he exited with a knee injury, deemed "minor" by the team this week. Bobby Rainey looked good replacing Martin, which could lead to an increased time share down the road as Martin gets back up to full speed.

After tons of hand-wringing over Ellington's foot injury, he not only started on Monday night but looked pretty darn good. He had 18 total touches and racked up 80 yards from scrimmage. To top it all off, general manager Steve Keim told Daniel Jeremiah on his new "Move the Sticks" podcast that he believes Ellington can be like Jamaal Charles for the Cardinals. That's quite the endorsement, and fantasy owners (myself included) are hoping it comes true.

Rivers managed a meager 12.52 fantasy points in Week 1 against a tough Cardinals defense, and things only get worse in Week 2 when the Seahawks come to town. Avoid starting him if you can but remain patient, as his schedule softens significantly in the coming weeks.

Gerhart suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 that significantly slowed him, but he was a full participant in practice on Friday and is probable for Sunday's game against the Redskins. Washington was gashed for 103 rushing yards by Arian Foster, so Gerhart could be in for a big day if healthy.

Fantasy owners who smartly invested and early-round pick on one of the Bears wide receivers are in for a rough Sunday. Both Marshall and Jeffery have hardly practiced all week, and are listed as questionable on the team's injury report. To make matters worse, they play on the road against San Francisco -- on "Sunday Night Football". Owners should look to the Sunday and Monday night teams for options if they lack depth at wide receiver and either of these wideouts don't play.
