The Houston Texans agreed to terms with No. 3 overall pick defensive back Derek Stingley Jr. on his fully guaranteed rookie contract, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday.

Another potential starter on the Jaguars defense isn't available for the 2020 season. Jacksonville announced Thursday cornerback Rashaan Melvin voluntarily opted out. The move came just a few hours before the 4 p.m. ET deadline.

The NFL preseason has ended. The regular season is less than a week away from kicking off and that means it's time for teams to cut their rosters down to 53 players before Saturday's deadline.
