FedEx Air & Ground Awards Expands Eligibility to Include Wide Receivers and Tight Ends
For the first time in the 22-year program history, the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Awards is updating its eligibility to better reflect the evolving and dynamic nature of the game. Now, wide receivers and tight ends—in addition to quarterbacks and running backs —are eligible to be recognized as the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week.
Players will no longer be restricted to solely winning the Air or Ground Awards. Beginning this season, fans can vote during each week of the regular season for the two players from a group of six who displayed the best offensive performance. The FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year Awards will be announced at the NFL Honors ceremony in New Orleans during the week of Super Bowl LIX.
Voting for weekly nominees is open each week of the regular season from Monday morning to Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET at NFL.com/FedEx. Fans can also vote on X (formerly Twitter) via the NFL published polls at @NFL and on the NFL Mobile App.
While the criteria for the players has changed, the charitable driving force of the program remains the same. For the 2024-25 season, FedEx will once again proudly work with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to make donations of $2,000 in the names of the two winning players ($4,000 total) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country every week.
Over the course of the entire season, select HBCUs will receive grants totaling more than $100,000 to support needs-based scholarships through the 2024-2025 school year. Over the past three seasons, FedEx has donated more than $300,000 to directly support needs-based scholarships for HBCU students.
In total, the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Awards program has donated nearly 3 million dollars to various non-profits, charities, hospitals, and other humanitarian organizations.
