Myles Garrett has joined some elite company -- company that includes an AFC North rival.
Garrett took down Joe Burrow on Sunday in the second quarter of the Cleveland Browns' 24-6 loss to the rival Cincinnati Bengals, moving him past 100 sacks in his career.
Garrett, who had 99.5 sacks coming into the game, reached the 100-sack milestone in his 115th game, which is tied with Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for the fourth fastest to the landmark since 1982, when sacks became an official NFL statistic. The Browns All-Pro's accomplishment trails only Hall of Famer Reggie White (96 games), Pittsburgh Steelers rival T.J. Watt (109), who hit triple-digits earlier this season, and Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware (113).
The reigning AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year became the first to hit the mark prior to his 29th birthday, which is Dec. 29 of this year.
Just four games earlier, Garrett put up three sacks in the Browns' upset of the Steelers, pushing him to 98.5 for his career and giving him some bragging rights over Watt, the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year.
It's perhaps fitting that Garrett reached his milestone at Burrow's expense. It was the ninth career sack for Garrett of Burrow, more than any QB he's played against.
Whether the Browns are amid playoff seasons or disappointing ones, Garrett has proved to be consistently stellar. The three-time All-Pro has turned in seven straight double-digit-sack seasons and should be bound for his sixth Pro Bowl selection.
On Sunday, Garrett reached a pass-rushing milestone faster than all but three players in NFL chronicle -- and he doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon.
