The Pro Bowl offers plenty of unique sights, including neon-accented uniforms, Hall of Fame players as head coaches and a new, re-energized sense of competition usually saved for the games that, you know, count.
With the advent of the Pro Bowl draft also comes the opportunity for usual teammates to line up against each other, sparking a little bit of a backyard rivalry in an otherwise frivolous contest. It's a chance that Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson relishes.
"It puts a little more incentive on it because you want to make sure you do it back, because you're always talking about, 'man, on if I played for the other team, I'd put my hands on you,'" Peterson said while talking to NFL Media's Dan Hellie and Marshall Faulk during the hours leading up to the Pro Bowl on Sunday. "Now we actually have the opportunity, we have a little bit more bragging rights going into the season."
Unfortunately for Peterson's competitive desires, all of his teammates elected to the Pro Bowl landed alongside him on Team Carter. Those matchups will be left to the other usual comrades now donning opposite highlighter shades.
But the corner did leave a little nugget of information that serves as reason to keep an eye trained on him -- Peterson could line up on the offensive side of the ball.
"Ooh, stay tuned," Peterson said with a wily smile. "Stay tuned. It's a lot of crazy things in store tonight."
