The Cleveland Browns are going hard after Dwayne Bowe.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Cleveland brought the veteran wide receiver in for a visit this weekend determined not to let him leave without a new deal. Bowe became available after he was released by the Chiefs last week.
The Browns have a huge hole at wide receiver following Josh Gordon's latest suspension. Cleveland signed Brian Hartline last week, but still needs a No. 1-type talent for Josh McCown (or Johnny Manziel) to target.
The question, of course, is whether Bowe is still that player. The veteran is years removed from his 15-touchdown breakout season with the Chiefs in 2010. He's coming off a down year in which he had just 754 yards without scoring a touchdown.
Considering the market, Bowe is probably worth the gamble for the Browns if he comes at a modest price. Cleveland suffered a setback on Thursday when tight end Jordan Cameron spurned the team to sign a two-year deal with the Dolphins.
