After missing the last seven quarters of Colts football, Anthony Richardson could return to an NFL field this weekend.
Richardson (oblique) will be a game-time decision for the Colts' Week 6 date with the Tennessee Titans, coach Shane Steichen told reporters Friday. The quarterback was limited in practice Friday and is officially listed as questionable.
Richardson suffered an oblique injury early in the Colts' Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, departing briefly before returning and further irritating the ailment. Veteran Joe Flacco replaced Richardson in the game, helping Indianapolis take down the previously undefeated Steelers. Flacco started the following week, completing 33 of 44 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns and nearly leading the Colts to a stunning comeback before falling to the Jaguars in the final seconds, 37-34.
If Richardson is able to play, he'll do so without running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle), who was ruled out Friday.
Surprisingly, Richardson may have receiver Michael Pittman available. Pittman suffered a back injury in the Week 5 loss to Jacksonville and was expected to miss multiple weeks, with injured reserve remaining a possibility, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Steichen delivered unexpected hope Friday, telling reporters Pittman -- whom the coach called "one of the toughest guys" -- practiced on Friday and still has a chance to play Sunday. Pittman was, in fact, a full participant and is questionable to play.
As for remaining uncertainty, receiver Josh Downs (toe), cornerback Kenny Moore (hip, shoulder) and tackle Braden Smith (knee, ankle) are also questionable for Sunday. Running back Trey Sermon -- a key Taylor replacement -- is on track to play, fully participating in practice.
